Fargo (1996)

The moral of this story is that money corrupts totally. A story well told and acted naturally.

loved it. Simply brilliant. Glad I watched it again.

An American classic. Contains some extra features (interviews with actors and directors). Despite lots of blood, gun violence, corpses, etc. I give it 4 stars because it also has some gentle and humane side, namely the character of the policewoman and her husband are very warm characters. They should not state that it was based on a true story if it was not, I feel confused about that detail. In any case, worth seeing once, at least.... Lead to some urban legends (search for "Takako Konishi" on the Internet, for instance, the urban legend says the Japanese woman (she) went to look for the one million dollars in the suitcase abandoned under the snow, as depicted in the movie Fargo...Eventually she died).

Great Coen film

Absolutely disgusting - every second word was F*** - this was gratuitous swearing - swearing just for the hell of it! - It had nothing to do with the story. Please do not send me any more 15

Another Coen Brothers movie which is entertaining , mixes violence with some humour ,portrays the police as closer to normal than is usually portrayed.simple plot line. Recommended .

thought the movie was a comedy, so far fetched and overacted. yearrr.

You're a shonky car dealer who hires two thugs to kidnap your wife so you can extract some ransom out of her rich father. What can go wrong? Everything goes wrong in this black comedy thriller. The body count rises as the plot twists and turns. The characters are all superb, particularly the pregnant sheriff played by Frances McDormand. Her interview with the two hookers is priceless. Yah! This movie can be summed up by the scene near the end with the wood-chipper: it is both gruesome and funny at the same time.

Ordinary movie. Poor Dialogue, Scenery interesting, had an opportunity to be really spectacular, but missed out.

Awesome! Must see.

We have come to expect good cinema from the Coen brothers and this is no exception; great drama if a bit gory in places!

A lot of swearing but otherwise a great movie - funny and the good guys win

An outstanding film that truly deserved the critical praise lavished upon it. The small-town characters may not impress moviegoers of of a more pedestrian taste, but those who tire of traditional, lantern-jawed protagonists should give this a try.

Sinister and brilliant.

Mum and I just watched this one.. didn't expect to laugh so hard when the movie sounded so serious and dark.. brilliant film.. frances mcdormand really deserved her oscar!! Will be saying yah for weeks.

A bit different and very good.

I hadn't seen this movie for 10 years. Forgot how violent it was. Thanks-a-bunch for Frances McDormand's character (yah!) a burst of goodness amongst a group of horrible people. Even William H Macy's character is horrible.

"Based on a true story" Not quite. Good film and good acting. Very entertaining.

Worth a look but wasn't really my kind of movie.

It's incredible to watch this movie with the constant thought in the back of your mind that it's based on actual events. Worth watching.

Truth is indeed stranger than fiction. The idiot in this story brought his whole world down around his ears. Best laid plans of etc etc... Everything he touches turns to the stuff which hits fans regularly. Powerful frustrating movie.

Police chief terrific, glad I saw it. Violence was laid back style, bearable.

This is one weird movie, but strangely compelling. It was a bit graphic for my tastes but it needed it to make it what it is.

I thoroughly enjoyed this moving! A film containing some great acting, especially Steve Buscemi. You just gotta laugh at him. This would be the best Coen Brothers film made. A combo of dark comedy and drama. Recommended.

Originally thought (as titled)it was a true story then remembered the talents of the Coen brothers. Tongue in cheek, sometimes stupid and I nearly switched off from the irritating Mr Macey. Too stupid for words. Well the whole movie was stupid. Great snow though.

Wonderful characters in this apparantely true story. Sad world we live in if that's the case.

REAL story, brilliant acting, brilliant directors = chunky goodness. just remember that the story is real, and not contrived hollywood drivel, and you'll be ok with it.

Classic Coen Brothers

This movie left an indelible mark on my memory, partly because of the blunt handling of dark themes but also because of the crystal clear characterisations.

Great acting by not so important actors. At times can shock.

Disappointing, I read all the great reviews on this movie and was disappointed with what I saw, had its moments but very few and far between.

I love the dialogue and the charcters in the town. Awesome acting, from leads to supports, and wonderful writing.

not bad.

Classic Coen - small town, bad weather, eccentric, murderous characters. Less pauses than usual and perhaps one of their most accessible films.

It's ok. Above average and worth a watch. I'd recommend it if you liked 'Haemoglobin' and 'Twin peaks: Fire walk with me.'

The Coen brothers at their very best!

One of my all-time favourite movies. Excellent stuff. Very funny and engaging.
