This movie proves you don't need a mega budget to make an exceptional movie. When you have talent to work with and fine craftsman ship you can turn out gems like Farewell. Conceivable, believable and engaging with a poignant twist at the end. Loved it!

Farewell. One of the best films I have seen in the espionage genre. Directed by Christian Carion and starring Emir Kusturica and Guillaume Canet as the two protagonists, the story subtly and cleverly builds to suspenseful conclusion. ‘Farewell’ (operational code name) is based on a true story, which makes it all the more gripping and unpredictable.

Excellent movie. Straight to the point without the normal Hollywood drama. Insightful.

This DVD was sticking in several places. I had to fast forward to overcome the sticking and thereby lost the sense of some parts of the movie. Not impressed. Interesting Movie> I think Sweden only has 1 leading man. He seems to be in all the movies

These people make Julian Assange and Wikileaks look like rank amateurs. High class production.

I fell asleep half way through. Not a reflection on the film, just on the amount of hours I work. The first half was exellent and witty, well worth it

A great atmospheric thriller. It kept me in suspense until the very end and the switch between the two languages of French and Russian was intriguing.

Brilliant film - such an amazing story that it's hard to believe that it's true. Emir Kusutrica is a genius of film but who could have expected him to also have the capacity to deliver such a great acting performance.

An amazing movie that helps to give some understanding to how the decades-long Cold War ended so quickly. No doubt this unknown story played only a small part, but the movie is fascinating in its recreation of world politics and the two key characters involved. It's also a very human story with idealism, pride, deception and difficult relationships all mixed up. The film is less than perfect though due to some confusing plot developments, that are either not made clear or are just illogical. A big plus for the movie is that everyone speaks in the language natural for each scene, be it French, Russian or English.
