It wasn't a bad movie, it just got less and less interesting as it got more and more weird.

I have waited for a long time to see this and i was happy with it.

They lost the plot on this one! Wouldn't let me rate less than one star!

its a really weird movie. and quite scary too. i don't even know this is the last movie of cruise and kidman together. its just really weird.

Have seen it on TV before. It was last movie of Kubrick and also last movie together for Kidman and Cruise before their divorce. The best line from the movie was "Life goes on, as it always does, before it doesn't". I have order this movie only because somebody has suggested that it is somehow linked to "Lolita", which is much earlier film by Kubrick, recently viewed by me. Well, I can see some linkage in the scene at "Rainbow", the rental place for renting costumes, but it is only a small episode. Overall not as great as expected, maybe 4 stars is too generous of me, quite possibly...

Certainly not what I was expecting. Overall the movie was intriguing although many parts didn't really seem to work. In particular, Nicole Kidman seemed a little unconvincing in parts. Tom Cruise seemed to carry his role more convincingly. Wouldn't recommend it.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I was unable to follow the plot, at the end I still didnt understand the point of the movie and was grateful when it was over.

After all the hype over this movie it wasn't to my taste. I think Nicole and Tom have made much better films than this.

Good entertainment movie. Something different, i have not seen for long time.

Second viewing and just as strange as the first time. Hot mysterious sex scenes and interesting to see Kidman and Cruise so young.

Worth watching if only to see Nicole Kidman parade around naked through the movie.

Kubrick for Kubrick's sake, forget scientology I think this is responsible for the end of their marriage and Kates pending imprisonment.

Was it all a dream or sexual fantasy come to life? Maybe the title is telling us something. Either way it's a fascinating movie that is continually challenging and disturbing, albeit rather weird at the centrepiece of the story. From a committed non-fan of both Tom and Nicole, there's grudging admission that they were excellent here, with closing hints of their real-life relationship.

why did it take me so long to see this film I ask myself- this is brillant- pure genius. Loved it- had me at the edge of my seat. Also a great movie for Tom - when he was still normal and we all adored him. A must see.!

I bet Tom and Nichole wish they never made this movie. I do.

A magnificent performance by both Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Excellent movie.

Ummm... what can one say. Stanley Kubrik...!

Well this is supposed to be such a good Kubrick movie but was a real let down. YES you can see the genius of Kubrick in particular to how the street scenes are shot with the arrangement of signs (colours/words) in teh windows .... YES the inside scenes in apartments again with precise arrangement of pictures on the walls. But the main problem is that neither Kidman nor Cruise are really up to this level of acting. The movies (psyco-drama) really needs to such you in, with both actors....and in particular Nicole Kidman we sat there "not believing" what they were doing and their roles in the movie. Next major flaw was a dreadful ending....was really like someone cut the movie 15 minutes before the ending! Such a let down after struggling through the rest.

The least interesting movie I have ever seen. Even the nudity and frankly -porn- didn't keep me from turning it off after about 20 mins - I usually slog it out to the end no matter how bad a movie is... but this one is off the scale.

Has a couple of good scenes but is basically boring. It might have worked for me had it featured actors with at least a modicum of charisma or some sort of appeal beyond basic good looks. Mr Cruise and Ms Kidman are lacking in both. Fans of either might enjoy.

Excellent movie. It leaves you a bit puzzled initially, but after a couple days digesting it, and certainly after a second viewing, it starts to leave its mark on you. Interestingly, even I think Nicole Kidman is a bad actor, here she does a reasonably job. And the same goes for Mr Cruise. After seeing this movie now I understand why their marriage collapsed.

Boring and dull, a wast of time

Intriguing movie even tho I don't usually go for Tom Cruise. Strange movie as Clockwork Orange was but they're the only two Kubric movies I've seen so I don't know if all his work is like that.

Strange but satisfying. Makes more sense than the TV version !

I enjoyed the music of Shastakovich, the acting and the vibrant colour, but overall it didn't quite work. Still Kulbrick's directing makes it worth a go.

Very wierd. I will watch this again as maybe its a mood thing. Pretty boring for the most part and the so called erotica is just plain weak and done poorly.

Huge disappointment. Very dark and very weird. Nicole is good - but she always is. Tom Cruise leaves a huge amount to be desired and what's more you don't even see his bum let alone anything else. What is he hiding?? or what isn't he hiding??

I did not enjoy this movie. The characters and relationships were unbelievable. Too many questions left unanswered.

The is something about Kubrick films being the camera angles, the framing of scenes, the soundtrack, the films rely on the performance of the characters (not special effects) and the plot is slow but this is one of the essential elements in Kubrick Films. It is a long film and I am sure there was some sore bums at the cinema. We watched it over 2 nights and enjoyed the film and recommend it

While I have no problem with sex, nudity and violence in movies it must not be gratuitous. I think Kubrick must have sensed that this would be his last film and went for broke. I have seen more 'connection' between sex and the story in pornographic movies that I did in this. It was so soporific that I needed to get up and walk around several times during the film in oder to stay awake. I think that 'our Nicolle' must feel that she prostituted herself to make this film and that the only person to benefit was Kubrick who I have read directed most of the shots involving sex and nudity with a skeleton filming staff. I hope he enjoyed it!

Cruise & Kidman - very self indulgent!! Boring.

As usual Stanley Kubrick is great regardless of the subject chosen. This time love and marriage and cheating on your partner. Normally a “soap opera subject” but made by Kubrick is a very special movie. Starting by showing Tom Cruise's and Nicole Kidman's perfect bodies to create a perfect atmosphere ?

Tense and disturbing. Up with Kubrick's highest achievements.

Veru interesting movie

First of all, I'd have to say that I didn’t enjoy this movie - not in a conventional way. I could not, however call any Kubrick 'bad' so hence my predicament. I must say that what pushed this DVD over into the "excellent" rating was the fact that so many other people hated it with a passion. This is a good film in that it sets out with a clear objective and achieves the hell out of it. What it isn’t is easy to watch - the relentless suspense makes sure of that. Also, if I didn’t know better I would say it was badly acted, but the same old “Kubrick spent 4 years to make sure Nicole acted like this” kept coming to mind. When this movie was on TV not long ago, I noticed that the Saturday paper gave it the ‘real stinker’ rating alongside ‘Funniest home video show’. I don’t care how little you *liked* the movie, it was still bloody good. To see Stanley’s last film ridiculed this way annoyed me somewhat.

Interesting treatment of the differences in attitutes between men and women as to sexual fantacy.

Self indulgent and boring. Only worth watching so you can cringe at Kidman and Cruise together knowing what their future holds...

Quite a good movie. Slow moving but keeps you interested. A classic Kubrick!
