Not much of a comedy as the description says but more of a drama instead. Good cast though and you will enjoy this movie if your like drama.

Bit of a weepy from Robert De Niro, who performs admirably as the recently widowed but independent (sort of) father of four of the shallowest and most dishonest kids you'll find. Top cast too but we don't get much out of them, Sam Rockwell especially.

Much to like about this little movie - a great cast with something to say without being taking itself too seriously.

At first I thought 'Oh no, it's going to be like one of those old man films with Jack Nicholson!' - you know, that Schmit one and something about a bucket. But this is a remake of an Italian film so there's more understated reality in it than a typical Hollywood movie. De Niro's character grew on me and by the end of the film I was quite moved and found myself reflecting on my own family life.

Very light family drama for De Niro to ply his excellent trade. Like many people he realizes after his wife dies he does not really know his children she was the head of the family, he was just the provider. He meant well but pushed his children to hard now he wants to make up for it but has to negotiate secrets and lies to rediscover them. The sons painting????????????.. is a great moment in the film. Limited roles for quality actors, that should have been developed more. The flash back to their childhood was well done. Over all a quality nights 4 star entertainment but not as good as The Notebook !

Robert DeNiro as always delivers a stella performance and this movie is no exception. The father of 4 children, discovers that his recently deceased wife was the 'one' his children talked too, and so embarks on an impromtu suprise trip to visit each of his children. A beautiful movie reflecting on how life moves on and families find it hard pressed to find time for each other to share their lives. Easy to watch[hard to realise that this is too easy to happen to all of us], entertaining and heartwarming with a few teary moments.( if you are so inclined)
