This holiday, discover your inner elf.

As a baby, Buddy crawls into Santa's toy bag and is whisked off to the North Pole, where he is raised as an elf. A misfit who grows to be three times the size of his elf family, Buddy ultimately heads to his birthplace of New York City to seek out his roots. Unfortunately, they turn out to be a "Scrooge"-like father and a cynical ten-year-old stepbrother who doesn't believe in Santa. Worst of all, everyone seems to have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. But using his simple elf ways, Buddy sets out to single-handedly win over his family and save Christmas in New York, hoping to at last find his true place in the world..

One of my favourite movies. A real feel good and so funny. Will Ferrell hilarious and Zooey Deschanel gorgeous in it, especially when she sings. Every time I watch this I can't help believe in the big man all over again, for a moment. Ah if only the childhood magic were true.

Got this for the silly season - have watched it before and it's good fun. Gets a bit sappy but enjoy Will Ferrell in the first half.

Very funny! I thought at first it was a little over the top, and had trouble even liking the carachters. But it was a little funny at first and than keeps on getting funnier and your into before realising. In the end I recommened it to be watched.

I've been on a bit of a Judd Apatow bent after enjoying the series of "Freaks and Geeks" on DVD as well as his giggle-inducing flick "The 40 Year Old Virgin" in cinemas. So I had every intention of getting around to "Elf" (Apatow produced I think?) the feelgood family Xmas flick starring the zany man of the moment Will Ferrell. The film is entertaining. Yes, Christmas is only about 60 shopping days away and despite the story being seasonal it was still a comedic riot. I loved the mix of animation during some of the North Pole sequences reminiscent of Christmas movies about Rudolph and Santa from the late sixties/seventies. The ending had cringe elements but Ferrell (in yellow tights) saves the day for the most part. Now if only the girl (Zooey whats-her-face) who plays the department store 'elf' released an album with her smokey jazz voice I'd be buying that too.

Funny movie! A lot better than I expected. The cast selection was good and Will Ferrell was excellent. Usually I think these sort of movies are pretty trashy, but this one was cute without being too cheesy. Caan (Walter) also played the bad father with a heart of gold to perfection, he made this movie great. Kids will love this gem!
