Liz Gilbert (Julia Roberts) had everything a modern woman is supposed to dream of having - a husband, a house, a successful career - yet like so many others, she found herself lost, confused, and searching for what she really wanted in life. Newly divorced and at a crossroads, Gilbert steps out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life, embarking on a journey around the world that becomes a quest for self-discovery. In her travels, she discovers the true pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of true love in Bali. Based upon the best-selling memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love proves that there really is more than one way to let yourself go and see the world.

For me to truly enjoy a movie, I need to like the main character. I found the Julia's character in this film to be overly self-centered and not particularly likable. Lovely scenery (if only I could just shoot off for a little jaunt like that) that may inspire you to head off on a holiday, but then you can get just as much inspiration from watching a travel show.

I have given this 3 stars because of Julia Roberts. I heard this movie was great so had an expectation when I watched it but it left me disappointed which might be just my Interpretation. I found it a bit self indulgent & unrealistic ie most people can not afford a trip around the world to just discover yourself. It seemed the character was running from herself so the issue was within. Also not everybody is afraid to leave/change their comfort zone some people love it.

Maybe it's only because I read the book which was amazing and really relative to a lot about life. The movie seemed very dull in comparison.

Don't bother. Started out alright, setting the scene for a good story, but just went nowhere.

Kill me now! I don't know what all the fuss was all about with this one. Talking about a long winded tale about a woman who is bored with her life. The best bit was the great footage of Rome. Give it a miss.

ok , a bit slow in parts but the scenery in Italy , India and Bali are worth the viewing. Suggest you get the book!

Scenery is in Italy, India and Bali is nicely shot and the supporting male characters are fine, if one dimensional. (P*rn for women, James Franco does your laundry!) However they all deserve better than the selfish, dim witted Julia Roberts character.

Having read the book it was obvious that right from the start so much of the storyline had to be spared to fit in to a movie length feature..However the acting was bright and the story easy to follow..I have rated this movie highly as it is entertaining and perhaps if you have not read the book you will not miss some of the deeper and more in depth background storyline. Good acting and great locations..Well worth a lazy Sunday on the couch!!
