Very entertaining English comedy/drama full of eccentric characters and with the expected happy ending.
Enjoyable quirky English movie.
A delightful and unexpected storyline .... thought provoking at times and lots of chuckles.
Ok, love Julie Walters in everything she does. Rupert character a little unbelievable.
his was a very boring movie. I cannot believe I chose it
This aptly named movie is very charming! I would give it 3 1/2 star; enjoyable without being truly memorable. Recommended.
DONT
Nope thats it just Dont
Great movie... the english know all about conformity... this one is a gem of social comment
Sorry but this one didn't thrill us at all. The characters were too weird to believe and the script was also unbelievable. The boy was so timid and gullible and the woman so overbearing and manipulating.
a nice view, not an award winner.. can be a bit painful in parts but would do if nothing on tv
It was a bit slow 4 me, more 4 your mum or grandmother. But I did enjoy the closeness between the boy and the lady he helped out : )
Don't bother. Ridiculous actually.
I loved this movie. I would like to have that "old" lady in my life. A movie that makes you smile.
Sweet, entertaining tale of a young 17 1/2 year old boy, controlled by by an overbearing religious mother and withdrawn father, and how he finds himself through his work with a retired, eccentric and tragic actress. Very well acted, especially by Julie Walters. Rupert Grint plays the the role of the teenage boy well, showing his talent will last longer than the Harry Potter series of films. A very entertaining film.
Really enjoyed this one - a simple story about lessons kids can learn from someone outside their own family that helps them to grow up and see the world through different eyes.
With this cast, I was hoping for more than was delivered. The performances are good, but somehow the story fails to hit the right notes and the subplots aren't defined as well as they could have been. Overall, this movie just didn't gel.
lovely movie and beautiful storyline. fantastic acting from the main casts
Love a quirky movie? This one's for you then. Julie Walters' performance as the ageing bohemian, eccentric is done to perfection. She frustrates to the point of wanting to choke her.....and then saddens you and you just want to hug her. Rupert is well
cast as her pliable, naive young friend. Entertaining
and moving.
At first, I wasn't too sure about this movie but I enjoyed it more and more as the movie went along. I think it something a little bit different. A very nice story.
Great British comedy/drama. Excellent acting. Great story.
Great movie with wonderful interaction between Evie and Ben - I loved every minute.
painfully shy boy meets eccentric lady... vaguely annoying at times but watchable.
Good movie. Quirky in a good way
Rites of Passage-type movie. What some poor kids go through, but this lad was lucky really. Loved the movie. Great acting and story.
Worth Watching - I'm a poet I understand the power of word.
Unutterably boring, trivial waste of time. Julie Walters gabbles her words so quickly I hadn't the foggiest idea what she was on about, and Rupert's just about as exciting as trying to raise the dead.
Implausible story line but Julie Walter's character is wonderful. Some very funny moments between her and Rupert Grint.
Great acting in a good story although a little predictable towards the end.
Fabulous warm fuzzy feeling after seeing this one - smiling from ear to ear. Julie Walters was absolutely fantastic - playing a grandma! Would you beleive Ronald Weasley swore, grew up and showed what an actor he could be, I won't tell you all. Chuck in the neurotic mother (she makes me look good). Lots of colouful characters, the story is really about a teenager with a brain finding his future and rebelling. Awesone! Loved it!
Great movie, good fun story.
Not bad. Is a bit slow but if your patient, it's a nice story.
anything julie walters does is brilliant and a vet good move away from the harry potters movies for young weasley. enjoy , and the scenery is fantastic.
Very funny, touching & quirky.
An easy watching, enjoyable movie with some great moments.
One of those jewels of british film making. Funny and affectionate. Julie Walters wonderful and eccentricwhile Rupert gave good performance as awakening youth.
Great fun
This was more considered and less light than I expected. Nicely judged performances, but a bit pat toward the end.
Too slow & it didn't grab us so it was a waste time looking at it.
Excellent movie with a great cast and an intriguing story
Julie Walters is excellent yet again
The movie was OK. I was expecting a bit more, because I enjoyed Harold & Maude so much.
Julie Water's is fantastic but the movie itself is a little slow. Rupert Grint does carry off the downtrodden son well but I think the story line and Laura Linney (who normally is superb in most parts) struggles with the english accent. She is such an integral part to the story line that it is a pity that she just doesn't manage to carry off the strict, uptight english mother role convincingly
Julie Waters has been a long-time favourite and she didn't disappoint in this quirky 'rite of passage' - Ben's story. (This is the first time I've seen Rupert Grint without Harry & Hermoine and it took some adjusting!). A delightful tale, sensitively told - the odd (literally!) sprinkle of British humour made it sparkle!
It had it's moments but overall I was disappointed with this film I expected it to be better.
Quirky and amusing with brilliant acting by the entire cast.
Interesting movie. Great performances by all actors
Lovely set movie with a great message, however I felt almost cheated that the movie didn't grab at all the wonderful chances offered to make it much greater!
I enjoyed this movie. Good acting and a beautifully told story
fantastic english coming of age film
the star is the car
a citroen safari
a must see film
