Hey Quickfix, this was directed by Barry Letts! And the description reads like Terror of the Autons (1971) There are some people who say they like DW but then think this is silly. They're wrong. This is the way DW should be made IMHO. A classy, final bow performance from Pertwee, a bravura waltz through the "action hero" fun tropes of the 3rd Doctor era, incidental characters in the hands of great character actors (John Dearth, Kevin Lindsay, Gareth Hunt, John Kane) and an early example of the climax to a two series long story arc. (Something that the current series copies shamelessly.) The final confrontation between 'The Great One' (I won't spoil it) and the Doctor (who must face his greatest fear) is stunning. And it's delivered in iambic pentameter! Episode 6 of this story is the greatest end of Doctor episode easily (and it has **some** competition). If you don't get it then I can't help you.... but it's amazing when you do get it......

The last of the classic team, well until Tom. Yes this is the one when Pertwee(3rd Dr) becomes mr Baker(4th Dr) but lets leave that for now, This is the last 3rd Dr adventure with Jon Pertwee at the helm until he comes back years later for a multi-Dr special or two, Yes Pertwee made the show a big hit again after the ratings went down in the last LONG year of the 2nd Dr Patrick Troughton( Not his doing, he was great but the writers & sometimes production let the team down)TV veiwers turned off, Jon Pertwee was a great Dr bringing flash & fashion with a BIG taste for action, almost a james bond hippy time lord, he hated goverment officials(which was a laugh to watch) He was a rebel. Pertwee wanted to go out with a bang! and in someways he did, It's a shame the story is too long, they also picked the wrong Director, If they made it a 5 story epic & got a well known WHO Director it could've been one of the best! Liz(RIP) is great as Sarah with a huge alien spider on her back! Yes super alien spiders! It's sad to see Jon(RIP) 3rd Dr go But look it's happen'in again! the 3rd becomes the 4th a very young looking Tom Baker! As the Brig(RIP) says "Here we go again!"
