Vintage Dr Who at its best. I wonder why they re-shot the pilot episode though. How odd.

Interesting to watch, just to get the story of how it all started. Whatever you do - don't miss the special features "humour files" they are the best part of this DVD and had me rolling on the floor laughing.

This dvd contains the first 4 episodes of DW. The first episode is a masterpiece of studio bound TV drama. It has lost little of the impact it had in 1963 (or 1965 if you were watching in Australia). The other 3 episodes are a little less exciting. They centre around the 2 teachers, Ian and Barbara's first trip in the TARDIS to stone age earth where two cavemen are struggling for dominance over their tribe and the use of fire. Little of the DW hallmarks (pace, humour, eccentric characters, scary monsters) are present. Watch this for the first ep then skip straight to disc 2 is my tip.
