Amusing in the light entertainment sort of way.
Great family film because sporadically swearing but I laughed the most with the special feature when I realized how pussy are Grant and Parker when they speak about the country towns, cows etc..
Like a souffle that never did rise, is this lack-lustre comedy with SJP and the ever stuttering Hugh Grant. I think the ingredients might have been all there, but the acting - particularly with the secondary roles (the FBI agents for example) and even SJP herself, like a twittering nervous canary, was woeful. The characters that carry the movie as much as it could be carried were Sam Elliot and Mary Steenburgen. The same material in the hands of more adept filmmaking might have produced something good. It does have some good moments, but otherwise a poor attempt at romantic comedy.
If you just want something light to entertain & give you a bit of a laugh, this will do
the movie kept stopping 16 minutes from the start. we would like to orer the title again but are afraid of getting the same copy. will add it again to my queue.
The Movie was boring at best. While I love both the starring actors, not in this particular movie!
It's okay. Watching Sarah Jessica Parker made me realise how appalling an actress she is, especially not suited to this role and there definitely wasn't any connection between her and her onscreen 'ex'. In this respect, the casting crew failed. However, it was still enjoyable but it would be nothing without Hugh Grant.
Not that exciting a movie, very typical of the type of movie Hugh Grant does now
The pace was slow, the characters where unbelieving and had very little chemistry between them. There were a few laugh out loud bits but overall it's an hour and a half I could have done with out losing! If you don't watch it, you haven't missed much... and I think I'm being kind.
The chemistry was so non-existent between the two leads that I couldn't suspend disbelief and gave up about 20 minutes into the movie. It might have gotten better, but I I wasn't willing to wait to find out.
Lovely movie, funny and heart-felt. Hugh Grant performance was great -- as usual.
A great laugh. Just watch it!
Good acting, kinda average, likeable. Extra half star for the actors.
bit slow but not bad, some parts were funny
Not a fan of hugh grant normally - I loved it! Men
Not very funny unfortunately - very forgettable.
the funny parts were really funny, however this is where it ends... romantics apply here!
Whilst not overally challenging mentally, it was a good time waster on a rainy afternoon. Formula movie with predictable ending, although characters could have been fleshed out more.
Could have been funnier, but was hard to warm to them as a couple as they definitely didn't have any chemistry...though for a couple long married and then separated, i suppose there isn't much to have!! Was a bit disappointed, but it was good clean fun, I'm not sorry I watched it.
Two and a half stars. Chick Flick. Reasonably amusing and entertaining. I didn't hate it.
Really enjoyed this movie. Hugh Grant
enjoyed this one very much
Great, fun, dry humour, lots of laughs, happy ending.
This film was quite boring and I only finished watching it because I'm a big fan of both the lead actors. The actors should really make sure they choose their films wisely otherwise people will forget how good these actors have been in the past.
Disappointing movie, slow and tedious.
This was almost the worst film I have ever seen. The story line is boring and predictable and there is absolutely no chemistry between Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker. Don't waste your time.
I didn't expect much more than a bit of cliched pap from this after seeing the cinema shorts. But the movie turned out to be a lot more enjoyable - it was a case of the shorts not correctly portraying the movie.
The famous leads were fun and sympathetic, and I got quite a few laughs out of it. Better still, I actually cared about the characters.
Watch it for some uncomplicated fun.
We didn't like this movie at all. The comedy component was lost on us.
Really boring. Didn't like this one bit.
I like both actors but incompatible combination for film- story line was boring- didnt watch it all
It was quite an enjoyable movie and had plenty of funny lines from Hugh Grant, although he did look rather awkward as SJP's partner. The storyline was a bit lame so I would probably only give it 2 stars.
Personally not a huge SJP fan.. so maybe I'm a little bias. But I am a huge Hugh Grant fan... However, this film just really didn't do it for me. I found it sort of boring, and nothing that exciting happened. Good if you want to watch a film, and not have to think about anything.. at all...
I loved it! and so did my partner and my 7 yr old son. We all know SJP is always Carrie but it works. If your after a light no brainer movie then this is for you :-)
A very attempt at a movie. The extras had stronger character roles than the main cast. Weak story line The 2 minutes of outtakes was the best part of the disc (at the end!),
A real let down, considering the cast!
Enjoyable, not Sarah Jessica Parkers best work.
I'm sorry to say that this is a very disappointing movie. Great plot, not too badly written, great stars and co-stars but ...................there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHEMISTRY between Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker. He makes all these funny quips and it's like she's in a different movie. What a shame when there were so many possibilities.
Well I quite liked this movie. I am not that fond of SJP but she was adequate and as for Hugh Grant, a little older but perfect in the timing of the jokes and the face expressions.
The story was ok and the country folks great.
The most boring inane load of garbage i have ever watched. Two hours of my life i will never get back.
Absolutely rubbish. We put this in our cue just because we thought H.G would make a funny movie, well, if your a Hugh fan, don't automatically go thinking you'll enjoy this.
Can I somehow black list the director and writer of this film? It stinks of poor script and director from the first few seconds, and it maintains the same low level the whole length leaving you feeling like you just wasted 80 minutes of your life that you will never get back.
I bet Hugh feels like an idiot after this one... SJP is probably happy with her performance as I understand it is never impressive.
Average movie would not rave about it
SJP is totally boring, she acts always the same as she acts in SACT
In this movie Hugh Grant is .....well, Hugh Grant , and SJP is.......well, Carrie Bradshaw. In my opinion there was absolutely no chemistry between these two actors. This much anticipated film was, to say the least, very disappointing, corny in fact.
I fell asleep during it and when I woke up I wasn't bothered to watch the rest.
SJP should stick to Sex In The City!
easy to watch, quite enjoyed the movie
A bit of light fluff but if your in the mood for a bit of fun then you'll enjoy this film. With Sarah and Hugh at the helm you know you'll have a chuckle.
Very predictable, I'm sure I've seen this before in other movies
Not at all what I expected, just got to the end without falling asleep
very disappointing!!! can't believe i made it all the way to the end - the other certainly didn't. don't bother with this one as an absolute fizzer....
no chemistry, disjointed story, absolute rubbish
Very enjoyable. Good ol' romantic comedy.
I dislike Grant and Parker immensely and I'm not sure why I watched it. It wasn't too bad but I prefered the Tim Allen and Kirstey Alley (I think) version better with the Omish people.
very slow, not interesting. not a good movie at all. SJP didn't have good acting on her behalf at all.
bit slow at the beginning - Hugh Grant sort of over acts a bit in this one however once the movie gets going it is really quite good. Lovely ending - sort of what you expect but with a twist.
I quite usually enjoy Hugh Grant and was sorry to find out that this flick seriously sucks. It's so unfunny with very weak dialogues and a storyline exploited hundred times before. Very disappointing. Can't call it a comedy as there is no laugh in it. It's certainly the worst movie Hugh Grant played in and the acting is of both main actors are terribly wrong.
Hugh Grant tries his best tocarry this less than hilarious film!
How the heck did anyone think that pairing him up with Sarah Jessica Parker wasbelievable in ANY realm of the imagination??
Cutesy, sheesy and poor plot line!
(Script writer must've written it in his sleep!)
Give this one a miss...
i too loved this movie - action, bears and one liners. it's interesting reading the reviews - well worth a watch
Sorry, Im another one who found this sooo boring I couldnt finish watching it (I hung on for so long...) Come to the realisation that Hugh Grant only has one acting style, and this is it...
I realy enjoyed this movie and I have to disagree with one of the previous reviewers I thought SJP was well suited to Hugh Grant in this role she was just great.!
Laughed out loud at some of the situations especially the Bear screen.
It was just what i expected and a nice change from violence and sex in your face stuff.
Witty and entertaining Hugh Grant and SJP at their best .
THis was better than i was expecting although I wouldn't call it a comedy- more like a drama of a couple trying to get past adultery
Not a great movie but one I enjoyed - a bit silly but good light entertainment.
OK movie - I am not a big fan of SJP but she was pretty good in this.
Good, light-hearted entertainment.
Has potential. The acting is there, the story is there but unfortunately it takes to long and has a lot of boring bits in between. Hugh and Sarah are great as usual. Some laughs and interesting plot. It just seems forever in between good bits.
I did not like this movie. It was slow moving and boring. I rate its entertainment value at 2 out of 10
Oh my god, I can't believe that people thought this movie was funny.I like both actors but this movie did them no justice. SJP was stilted and she lacked any comedy timing, and her voice was grating. Hugh Grant looked weak and bumbling and he wasn't funny. The story line was weak and predictable. I'm sorry but this movie was terrible.
i loved this movie! It kept me laughing out loud and i think Hugh and sarah played great parts. i love hugh grant and think he made the movie. Well worth a watch.
Very good movie,I'm not a big fan of Hugh Grant but he was good in this role alongside Sarah Jessica Parker.A lot of very funny one liners.Well worth watching.Sam Elliot was very good as the tough minder
I didn't expect much from this movie, so I was pleasantly surprised to find it quite enjoyable. A bit predictable and the inevitable clichés, with gentle digs being made at both small town and city folk, but it was inoffensive and, overall, a lot of fun. Hugh Grant played, well, Hugh Grant, but he's very good at it and it suited the role. Considering it's about a couple hiding from a hired murderer, the violence was almost non-existent and the conclusion was satisfyingly comical. A good light comedy for both guys and girls..
If you're vegging out and just want to be entertained then a Hugh Grant and SJP movie is the fix. As other reviewers have mentiond Hugh Grant plays Hugh Grant and SJP plays SJP and/or Carrie from Sex in the City.
Not a very well crafted film in terms scene editing and a bit too long in terms of storyline. Somehow the story bumbles through and you can guess the outcome. Did I enjoy it? Yeah, it was just OK!
If you love Hugh Grant like we do you won't be disappointed, it is another Hugh classic romantic comedy. Slightly different as the couple are already married trying to reconcile and of course the road to 'happy ever after' is never easy! ! ! Lots of one liner's, many situations taken to the extreme as two New Yorkers suddenly find themselves in outback Wyoming. I'm not sure Sarah Jessica Parker would be my choice of actress to play opposite Hugh again as he has had some wonderful ladies in previous movies that have made some 'big shoes' to fill. Great movie, entertaining, funny, easy viewing and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it highly for the whole family.
I say this in a positive light. "It does exactly what it says on the packet". Better than i had envisaged. Hugh Grant is Hugh Grant but he is the shining light in this movie, if not for him this would be a disaster. SJP is awful, i persoanlly dont think she will ever escape Carrie and she pretty much plays that character (minus the sex) in this. It has some funny moments but you need to put your brain on the coffee table to get the most out of this.
