Josh Hutcherson, Dane Cook and Spencer Locke star in Detention, a teen horror-comedy where the local students of Grizzly Lake must survive their final year of high school. Standing in their way is Cinderhella, a slasher-movie killer who has seemingly come to life and is preying on the school’s student body. As the clock ticks and the bodies pile up, the likely suspects are embroiled in a race against time to stop Cinderhella and ultimately save the world… if only they can get out of detention.

Def not your run of the mill horror/comedy as they aimed for different styles here.Play wonderfully and feels like channel surfing in a way with the themes but is quite gory and def sets up the Horror well.

Love this movie but yes its not for everyone. Its one of those movies that you go to see where you need to shut off your brain and just watch. If you go in over analysing then you won't be able to stand this, get frustrated and turn it off as it does contain some very random short story lines. I don't even know what to compare this with maybe a mixture of Scott Pilgrim vs Donnie Darko (not Southland or S.Darko which i hated for different reasons) vs Scream.

After turning off subtitles on both tv and DVD, it still had subtitles! Is this disc meant for another country? Surely we can invest in DVDs without permenant subtitles.....

Let's be clear here, this movie is not for everyone. If you didn't like the visual style of Scott Pilgrim then this isn't for you, because this movie uses the exact same visual style. If you didn't like the Meta humour of Scream then this isn't for you, because this movie acknowledges all the same clichés and comments on them in a hyperactive style. However if you are ok with that then you will enjoy this movie. The actors bring brilliant performances to their roles, creating great characters with clever jokes that actually work. If you know your horror movies then there are a lot of references to catch here (Including a beautiful reference to The Fly) and if you like Josh Hutcherson (Which for most of you is why you're here) then he plays a really wonderful role, getting to provide really brilliant comedy moments. Just remember that this movie is not a serious horror film, if you expect to be genuinely scared you're going to be disappointed.

An overstuffed pop-culture ouroboros of a movie. Joseph Kahn takes the punishing MTV aesthetic he employed in TORQUE, sharpens it into a weapon and stabs you in the eyeballs with it. I enjoyed it.

what was josh h. thinking the movie was a load of rubbish. The first killing you never saw. Then you have a boy that touched an "alien" something as a child and then went around school with a tv on his hand,"so he didnt look weird",then he got infected with fly dna and vomited acid.I think that about sums it up.The best bit was when he was killed you actually saw that. Then i had to turn it off as it was sooooo stupid and sick of the pop ups telling you what something meant.OMG what shite.

This film will make you feel like you have ADHD, so many quick cuts and pop culture references jammed into a 80 minute movie will have your head spinning. The film is so quick you don't gat a chance to judge all the holes in the plot, you just have to go with it. Don't think. Just watch. Enjoy.
