Tsui Hark has made an engrossing period wuxia detective adventure. The production values are as impressive as other big wuxia drama/adventures from recent popular memory (Hero, House of Flying Daggers). Detective Dee is historical China's version of Sherlock Holmes. Exciting martial arts and engrossing mystery.

HK movie which tries to follow the success of Hollywood's recent success in remaking Sherlock Holmes genre. Nice cinematography, good castings and love Li Bing Bing in it but too bad, the plot is a bit too "out-there" IMHO.
