Director: Wes Craven
Actors: Sharon Stone, Susan Buckner, Jeff East, Coleen Riley

Following his groundbreaking directorial debut, the infamous revenge shocker The Last House On The Left (1972), and the success of his second feature, the ferocious genre classic The Hills Have Eyes (1977), director Wes Craven had already achieved cult status with films that encapsulated the fury and desperation of the times. With Deadly Blessing, Craven concocts a sophisticated psycho-thriller about a woman's fight against a religious cult. Stars Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct) in one of her earliest roles, while Ernest Borgnine plays the psychopathic cult leader.

not a bad movie by any stretch, some nice scenes with some genuine suspense...wes craven tries a few tricks here that get repeated in other movies of his, notably a snake in the bath, elm st anyone ?? a very young sharon stone also appears.. well worth a look...

I have always been a huge fan of Wes Cravans films but this film has left me feeling he either didnt understand the materal which is odd considering his background or just simply threw out the logic for scare and blood scenes. A man is murdered by tractor and his widow and 2 of her friends are harassed by a cult living near by and mysterous events both supernatual and serial killer like. The acting is quite well done and its good to see a young Sharon Stone long before she picked up an ice pick but the direction is uncertain if the film is supernatual or Friday the 13th styled and the climax gets complex which is unnessary considering the rating and the target audience its aimed towards plus it suffers from one of the most stupid and insulting endings. The effects are passable and the film is moderately violent but horror fans can do way better and true Craven fans have Last house on the left, The hills have eyes and Anightmare on Elm street which are way better films of his. Passable but nothing special.
