Richard (Paddy Considine) has always protected his simple-minded little brother Anthony (Toby Kebbell). When Richard leaves the rural village where they have grown up to join the army, Anthony is taken in by Sonny (Gary Stretch), a controlling and vicious local drug dealer, and his gang. Anthony becomes the gang's plaything and is relentlessly tormented and ridiculed. Seven years later, Richard returns to settle the score. One by one, he hunts down each member of the gang and executes them in increasingly elaborate ways as flashbacks reveal the extent to which his brother suffered at their hands.

Really need subtitles, couldn't understand half of the dialogue because they were mumbling half the bloody time.

Amazing acting by Paddy Considine. From the moment he has a go at one of the locals at the pub early on, you know this guy is not going to be messed with. Very dark and also gloomy, not just in tone, but in the almost oppresive visuals of constant drizzle and English suburbia. If you like 'revenge' movies where people who did something terrible get their comeuppance, put this at the top of your list.

Man returns home to take revenge on a group of drug dealers who tormented his intellectually disabled brother. He proceeds to dispatch the members is various grisly ways. That's pretty much the whole plot. Artlessly made, poorly acted, a crude, pointless revenge fable. A complete waste of time, and a real disappointment from Meadows.

Once again Shane Meadows captures the rawness of life in the Midlands. Tension underscores every scene in this tragic tale of revenge. Schadenfreude is difficult to resist especially when the perpetrators are put through a drug induced hell before despatching. Gripping stuff!

Chosen by recommendation of a friend, this has a lot going for it, including the start point - when the brother returns to his village to discover the mistreatment of his brother. Saves a lot of time with flash-backs at appropriate moments. Given the number of Considines appearing in the cast/crew, I suspect this was a pert project of the star, but strong, nonetheless.

A dark dark movie! It features a bleak view of modern lower-class english provincial life, combined with vicious violence and occasional ridiculous humour. Not to be missed if you like unconventional cinema.
