An interesting look at Johnny Depp's early career, but a bit repetitive on the killing front!!
Horrible. Prefer to give no stars!
Very odd movie but really good if you prefer art house movies (which I do)
Very tedious. Slow moving with an imposing and out of place guitar riff playing over the top of the action constantly. I want my two hours back.
Very different. The film captures an eary feel of the time, the music is brilliantly supports it. I loved it.
Dark, gritty and often brutal movie, it's watchable but it's replayability is highly questionable. I found it to be too nasty at times and did not feel in the slightest a better or more enlightened person for watching it.
Absolutely boring and slow cowboy's style movie with the intention of being philosophical and surrealistic. Still Johnny Deep is a really good actor as usual.
would not recommend to anyone.
It's Jim Jarmusch, so you know this film is going to be brilliant!! An Odysseyian journey into the dark heart of America, Johhny Depp's guileless William Blake encounters numerous and usually treacerous characters, the most memorable being Iggy Pop and his crew around a camp fire - that scene alone is worth watching this film for!! Stupid white men!!
Very slow not my cup of tea
On the run after murdering a man, accountant William Blake encounters a strange Indian named "Nobody" who prepares him for his journey into the spiritual world. Plodder. Boring
was not a very exciting movie to tell the truth. Rather ordinary movie
Loved the cast slow style western with a twist. Not for everyone. You will either love it or hate it. I enjoyed it
I wasn't too sure about this one in the beginning, I don't normally like the modern black and white movies but it was actually A pretty interesting movie. I got it out because Neil Young did the soundtrack, which was cool. Worth watching.
Worse movie i have ever watched and i have seen some bad ones i can tell you!! This is great if you love Johnny Depp but that was not even enough to hold my attention in this movie. I watched about half an hour of this movie and it was switched off!! I did not like this movie one bit.
I sometimes think of Johnny Depp as overrated, his Jack Sparrow seems too much of a caricature knowing that's the point does not help. Yet time after time he surprises me, Ed Wood comes to mind as does this. With a soundtrack that makes it just as pleasing on the ear as the eye Depp delivers an aptly understated performance. If you're used to being hand fed by Hollywood stay away (and there's nothing wrong with that - some very tasty films have been spooned out). Depp fans would be well advised to wait for that next pirate movie unless willing to open their minds.
One of my favourite movies.
You'll also enjoy spotting all the famous faces (Iggy Pop, Billy Bob Thornton etc). I loved Neil Young on the soundtrack too.
This movie is absolute pants! WTF??!!
I saw this Jim Jarmusch cult “classic” at the Art Gallery last night. They present free screenings on Wednesday nights. I’m tempted to say that the price was just about right, but I think that would be unnecessarily cruel. Truth be told I quite enjoyed this strange ramble through the twisted Western landscape. It’s a slow journey – the duration of the train ride at the start of the movie is enough to test anyone’s patience. There is a lot of time to contemplate the mysticism and meaning of the movie and to admire the cinematography. The almost sepia black & white print works well and reminded me of those old photos of the West that you sometimes see with the odd looking Indians dressed in crazy combinations of tribal and modern clothes. I laughed a number of times and whilst this film will never set the world on fire I can understand why it has a solid cult following. Depp is at his quirkiest.

Offbeat psychological journey. Worth a look, even if just for yet another stunning performance from Johnny Depp. The b&w especially allows us to see how much emotion Depp can convey even in stillness.
Totally pointless. I LOVE Johnny Depp and I am a major arthouse/cult fan movies but this was sheer crap. Crap in black and white, trying to be art. If your idea of art is a steaming pile of elephant poo in a cereal bowl, this is a movie for you!
The amazing cast make only brief appearances with Johnny Depp being the focus throughout. An interesting movie for Depp devotees. Also - it is shot in black and white which I didn't know until I got the DVD. Worth watching...but quite strange.
As with most Johnny Depp Movies, "Dead Man" attempts to portray uniquely Human situations for which few Actors have the ability and even fewer producers, the creativity to bring to fruition.
An urbane young man with no ties (and hence maybe nothing to live for) going West(where the value of Life could be determined by instruction of 1 Despot, or any number of Godless, Murderous , Lawless Individuals) to make his future on the promise of a Job that on arrival no longer existed. From there Chaos follows catastrophe , include a liasson with an abstract Native American and you have a Movie that while at times,is Ugly is never less than Confronting.
I liked that the Movie was filmed in B & W as that made sure the focus remained on the charachters
