For it's genre (and you have to be a zombie film lover to enjoy this one) it doesn't do to bad a job. Love the African setting (African zombies, African landscape). Really like the return to the slow moving shambler type zombie (ala Romero) and it's nice for it to be a dramatic zombie film (rather than tongue in cheek) . For a zombie film I liked the period of quietness in the film. However, it would have gotten four stars from this zombie connoisseur if there were a few less zombie attacks along the way (they get a little predictable) and also if some of the plot opportunities (running out of water, the baby) had been taken advantage of a bit more (they were sort of introduced and then in the next scene discarded). The acting was reasonable for a zombie flick, the script wasn't bad, special effects pretty good. All in all I would recommend to the zombie-flick fan.
Wow such negative reviews apart from one. I reaaly enjoyed this as both a zombie film and a human drama and most didnt seem to understand they tried to be different from most with this while sticking to the trational zombie trappings others have done. Most complained about the ending but the guy said "There is hope" meaning possible sequels.
If only there was an end! Walking walking walking... to where??? Those poor zombies.
I usually love Zombie movies but this one is not one of the better ones out there. I finished it and it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (i ordered it and rec'd it and then read the reviews which were mainly bad). I thought the Zombies looked pretty good but really, don't bother with it. Not at all happy with the ending......
I am a rather large fan of Zombie and horror films and couldn't last more than 15 mins through this piece of utter garbage. I am not one to walk away from films either, but this is possibly the worst movie I have ever attempted to watch.
Rubbish, Could have been better.....Stopped it after 30 min, falling asleep....
Gosh! This is bad! The special fx are great but the lack of plot, the amateurish cinematography, the little dialogues and acting are simply very poor. They did have great african scenery to film in but didn't know how to. Definitely low budget with lack of talents behind the camera. On the other hand you can't expect better in terms of gory effects. To resume, this movie is boring because it's got no real storyline except guys not very talkative wandering in a Zombie infested land.
Very slow - could not really get into it.
Most Zombie movies take on social issues. With the African setting the film takes on the plight of refugees with humans seeking a place of asylum from a world unable to help. Too much of a slow burn and would have worked better if the outbreak was contained to Africa.
Decent Zombie films are few and far between and this film is definitely not a decent one. If you are absolutely a zombie fiend then you might get a kick out of it, but if you are a fan of the likes of Zombieland or Dawn of the Dead, move along, you won't like it.
The zombie genre is my all time favourite.... I truly believe the Apocalypse will come one day..... however not only is this the WORST zombie film I have ever seen, but it also sits in the pile of worst movies EVER watched. Same as others I kept fast forwarding to see if anything was ever going to happen.... didnt bother watching the end.
Fast forwarded most of this movie. Worst movie in the zombie genre I have seen.
This is horrible... Don't bother, seriously, I have a plank of wood with more acting ability than the peeps on display here. I thought, different angle, different country, non Hollywood take on the zombie thingy....... Nope, crap story, crap acting, crap film. 0.1 Star.
Fast forwarded a fair portion of this movie. The plot was just too poor to keep your attention and you never associated with the only two characters. Not worth bothering with in this genre given all the other zombie movies out there.
I think this is a great addition to the zombie genre - it's got a sombre mood and an air of helplessness and hopelessness that fits really well with the mood most living dead flicks try to capture. There are a few frights and jumps, but what I liked most was that the horror wasn't really in these surprises, but in the creepiness of the slow and oh-so-quite dead. Even though the characters often see them coming, the relentless shuffling of the corpses is where the true horror lies. The make-up is simple but really well done and given the conditions in which the film was made, I reckon the production crew did an awesome job.
an ok film, but it lacked substance and direction,or shall i say it lacked a storyline...i a big fan on zombie/the infected movies, but this 1 didnt hit the mark. i give this film a 3.5 outta 10
