A man (Khabensky) who serves in the war between the forces of Light and Dark comes into possession of a device that can restore life to Moscow, which was nearly destroyed by an apocalyptic event. Featuring the cinematic vision of cutting-edge Director/Writer Timur Bekmambetov, "Day Watch (Dnevnoi Dozor)" is the second installment of a trilogy based on the best-selling sci-fi novels of Sergei Lukyanenko entitled "Night Watch," "Day Watch" and "Dusk Watch." A dazzling mix of state-of-the-art visual effects, amazing action sequences, and nail-biting horror, when "Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor)" was released in its native Russia in July 2004, it became an instant smash hit breaking all film gross records in post-Soviet history. Set in contemporary Moscow, "Day Watch (Dnevnoi Dozor)" revolves around the conflict and balance maintained between the forces of light and darkness -- the result of a medieval truce between the opposing sides.

A great follow-up to Night-Watch. Considering this whole trilogy was shot as a Russian TV series, the special effects, etc are terrific. Can't wait for Quikflix to get the 3rd installment - Dusk-Watch.

i loved the universe of nightwatch, so was a tad disappointed with this movie. the story line seemed so overly edited in order to have bigger action/cgi scenes. it did inspire me to read the novels - which i highly recommend.

Not as good as tehf irst one, but thios copy had sub-teitles and not dubbed - an improvement. I bit over-long. Apparently there is a third in the pipeline. I hope the decline is arrested.

Some of the concepts (other dimensions and time lines) are interesting, but they tease you with it and never really develop these ideas. Storyline drags a bit and if you aren't paying attention you can find it hard to follow. Supposed to be horror and action, but it's rather disappointing. There's talk of a woman being 'all powerful' but she never shows much promise of anything. You expect her to save the day and then it turns out all HE had to say was "NO"??? but to what you aren't certain! ... Maybe it all got lost in translation????

Loved it. A complex plot. Russian director so not full of hollywood cliches. Pay attention or you'll get lost. You really need to see Night Watch (the first in the series) to properly understand it.

Really not what I expected, seemed to jump from one thing to the next, terrible acting, actions scenes not bad, however wouldn't recommend to anyone, wasted my precious holiday time watching it.

gosh - pretty extreme reviews here. i really enjoyed this, having watched "night watch" again to remind myself. the effects are terrific, and i found the resolution satisfying, and am looking forward to the 3rd part of the trilogy. i shall also be raiding my library for the whole series. these are original stories from a different sci-fi culture, which adds to their interest for me.

Of course the books are definitely better, but hey they are a great adaptation. We liked them! Better than your average fantasty and awesome to have a movie about vampires that is different and not horror.

Enjoyed this. Was a better storyline than the first one but. This one would have been better without subtitles.

Sucked in by the blurb I foolishly rented this tripe. Nifty FX, cringe worthy acting though. Don't do it.

I think it is probably wise to see the first instalment, because I hadn't and it is very difficult to work out what is going on and who is who. 2 stars for the stunts and special effects though.

A fabulous second installment to the Watch series. The plot is intricate and the story much better than anything Hollywood can come up with! An intellectual treat and worth watching. May I say that this is a FANTASTIC film!

The confusion is even more perplexing in this film, the second part of the Watch trilogy. Nightwatch was fresh, different and incredible effects only enhanced the film, but if you didnt see nightwatch you will have no idea what is going on in this film. Watch the two together one after the other and blow your mind with this russian horror/science fantasy..it will be worth the trip.

I actually found the first one confusing, but more understandable the second time round, so I knew I had to pay a little bit more attention to this one. I found the story-line a lot more clearer and found every sequence somewhat a breath of fresh air to this kinda of genre. If you dont care about storys or plots in movies, a deffinant action junkie movie I suppose. If you loved the books, I strongly suggesst you watch without any great expectations as this is a muddled-up mess of the 2nd and 3rd stories of Night Watch and I'm certian a little bit from the Day Watch book also. Though its still a watchable film.

I'm sorry to be a spoil sport but this was the absolute worst movie I have ever watched. Pathetic acting, Pathetic storyline that's if you can even work out what the storyline is. Don't waste your time waiting for it to watch.

Not as good as the first one, but still a lot of fun action scenes in the mystery of what will happen is interesting enough to watch through once.

I liked the first "Nightwatch" movie but i found this one hard to follow and it just felt like a bunch of action and special effects rolled into 2 hrs. In saying that there is some cool special effects in this movie. A little disappointing.
