The day the Earth stood still is 20th Century Fox's contemporary reinvention of its 1951 classic. Keanu Reeves portrays Klaatu, an alien whose arrival on our planet triggers a global upheaval. Started off reasonably promising ... but lost it as time went by, winding up less than interesting really. There was absolutely no need for the child character - it served no purpose whatsoever.

I quite liked it, better than i thought it was going to be. I have never seen the original film so i can't compare it to that. But i thought it was a good sci-fi flick with some great special effects. It has a good message.

Keanu is perfect for the part and it's an interesting story. The full on idiocy of the USA seems a bit much though, and can we please lose the annoying kid from these movies.

Saw this at the movies and can't wait to see it again on our own big screen. A must see movie even if it is a remake.
