This movie was so boring. I don't understand what all the fuss was about. I thought that the casting was terrible as well. this should be missed
Heath Ledger's was amazing
I thought it would be better. Not that keen on it.
Disappointing film Great idea and Sean Penn is convincing in the role but it just ended up being boring
great movie cant wait to see dark knight rises
was ok. wldnt watch again. was a bit hard to follow some times. and was dark to watch cause a lot at night
In a time where mainstream cinema has really fallen in quality due to a lack of original ideas and interference by greedy corporations I find it amazing that so recently the superhero genre has just found its quintessential film. The Dark Knight exceeds every other superhero film out there in all ways possible. An amazing superhero film. Nolan should be praised!
Very good action movie and while the plot and character development was there they didn't interfere with the story. I'd probably give it another half star but it was quite up to 5 star standard.
so good! i watched 3 times.
This was a great film, Heath's performance was top draw. Worth watching form him alone.
this disk skipped and stopped and started, being unable to watch please send us a new copy this also ment that we didn't get our two movies a week so could this please be and extra movie, the disk problems where written on the return envelope when we sent it back to you. thanks for your help :)
great effects but way too long at 140mins. Heath Ledger is brilliant as The Joker.
Oh, come on, it's a BATMAN movie. Not exactly a Batman movie for the kiddies, well, it's not at all, but despite that fact, the cast is a real ensemble, the effects and stunts and chase scenes really make this a great action flick. More than that, it is an awesome thrill-ride with a terrific performance from the late Mr Ledger.
An extremely over-rated film with a much over hyped performance by yet another of one the most over-rated "actors" in the history of Cinema Heath Ledger. For the infantile Australian audience.
Totally over-hyped and a disappointment, what was the big deal about Heath Ledger?
Very Good movie, dark and awesome
very good movie, good story and plot
Christian Bale seems to specialise in tortured characters, and as we know Batman is a very tortured character. Bale is always good at whatever he does, but, sadly, this is Heath Ledger's movie. There is only one scene where I thought Ledger looked like himself - wearing the nurses uniform, you could see the shape of his arms. Otherwise, he was someone else - a very scary someone else. Lots of action and violence and the usual stuff. Michael Caine and Gary Oldman fantastic as always, but I'd like to see them get some more exciting parts - also same for Maggie Gyllenhaal. I think it could have been darker, but perhaps I want to push it further because really, the subject matter (for me) has been covered enough. How about a Halo Jones movie people?
Heath Ledger got rave reviews, this movie was built up to high heaven before I saw it... They weren't kidding, Heath as the joker is (was) phenomenal. There's a little bit of Jack in there, a little bit Cesar A Romero, but he made it his own... On a side note, my wife absolutely hates batman's voice.
Intense and attention-grabbing. If it were a book I'd say it was unputdownable.
Good special effects and Heath Ledger absolutely stole this movie. I'm sorry but the best Batman was Keaton - this guy is too soft for me - more of an off-white knight to me!!
Heath Ledger was very good as the Joker, but I was'nt all that keen on the movie itself as it seems to have moved away from the original formula, but it is worth watching.
Just one person who carries the movie. Heath Ledger. Man you were a born star, I would say you scared me, a true performance of a pyschopath.
Worth watching!!
Heath, Heath, at last I got to see your proformance in the Dark Knight. You were a real star; in fact a pure genius in the way you gave us "The Joker", may you now rest in peace. With a little Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine my night was truly made. The movie is loud, a little hard to follow at times mostly because it moves so quickly and it is violent. Next time please don't forget Robin: we missed him.
Heath Ledger's great performance as the Joker lifts this from being a one star movie to a two. The director's approach seems to be to barrage the audience with as much violence and loud noise as possible in the hope that we won't notice how pathetic the storyline and most of the script is. No cliche is left unturned. Woeful.
A much darker batman movie that takes itself very seriously (no jokes about tailors or words to replace the violence, no "holy cow batman"). Heath Ledger makes the movie work through a study in amoral chaos. There's things to think about and enough to enjoy (but my 15 year old had nightmares). I prefer self-referential fantasy, but enjoyed this enough.
Enjoyed the film ,however not enough to watch it again.
I have always loved the batman series, not the animated but the movie franchise. This movie was good in a way, that you got to see a different meaner side to bruce as well as knowing that he does love he just cant have love. It was a let down that Two face died like that and was paired with the joker rather than the riddler as he was with Val Kilmer as Batman. The make up, costumes and sets were great wouldn't watch it again, but would recommend it to others.
Well Heath Ledger plays "Joker" well, but as there's so many "Batman" movies out now, they are starting to get to be similar, but still was worth watching, the action and storyline was still good.
The most impressive part of this movie was Heath Ledger. What a performance. I got a bit confused with the plot though but enjoyed it.
Heath Ledger is truly fantastic, as is the guy who plays Commissioner Gordon, but the movie itself is choppy. I don't appreciate it when I have to rewind a scene just to figure out who just did what to whom. I also couldn't understand what most of the actors were saying and had to turn on the subtitles. Most of the other main actors weren't worth their pay cheque.
I'm not a fan of the Batman movies and I only watched this because of the hype over Heath Ledgers character, The Joker. At almost 2 and a half hours, I found this an extremely long movie and watched it in two parts. I liked Heaths performance, but if it wasn't for him, I would have not even bothered with this movie. I like two of the other actors in this movie, but for me, it was nothing overly special.
Never really got into the Batman movies but watched this because of the hype around Heath's performance. I gotta say, without Heath Ledger's Joker this film wouldn't have been that great but he definitely steals the show. Three stars for the movie plus the extra one simply for Ledger's outstanding performance
Heath owns this movie, to the point where Batman becomes irrelevant to the storyline (can you believe it??) The movie is superb when the Joker is in it, boring when he's not. Heath's mannerisms are amazing - Oscar worthy indeed. What a talent. Nice touch seeing Harvey Two Face "created". Michael Caine is a worthy Alfred. The producer will be hard pressed to make the next movie in this franchise- which direction to take now that Heath is no longer with us? Christian Bale has no screen presence to make the Batman character real or even likeable. Val Kilmer was a better Batman, that's saying something.
This is one of the best movies of all time and I believe it is going to be remembered and watched over and over by different audiences and generations.
There are a few outstanding character's in this movie, Heath Ledger was not only psychotic but slightly lovable, in a mad-hatter meet's Hannibal Lecter kind of way.
Then there is Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman's small yet important part's. I wasn't disappointed by this movie at all and I think it deserve's the hype it's received.
The graphics where amazing and the crew worked incredibly hard on this film, it was brilliant.
The Dark Knight, this has to be the most outstanding characters that I have ever seen Heath act out. Wow! I was totally blown away, because I have seen most of Heaths movies, but not all of them. Wow, he plays this character so well, you wouldn't know it's him. love you Heath and we miss ya.
Dark, noisy and hard to follow.
Superb! Heath's 'Joker' portrayal and performance right up there with expectation and surpasses that of the great Jack Nicolson. Batman fans .... enjoy!!
very disapointing not even the good performance by Heath Ledger could save this lame batman flick.
It just goes to show that even if you throw millions of dollars in production and hype it still goes wrong
Not the greatest film I've seen lately & why oh why was Heath Ledger awarded an Oscar for this very average performance.Too much mumbling as is the case in a lot of movies these days. Far too long as well.
Good, I think everyone would enjoy this movie
The best batman movie made so far.
Heath is great . His is scary
absolutely wonderful acting by Heath Ledger, felt as though he made the film, a lot of blood and violence, that l am normally not use to, but over all would recommend for viewing, found it a little hard to follow at times as the story flowed through very quickly
hollywood gone mad.
very dissapointing CGI cone mad. cast tried hard with
a dull script so mutch hype not one of the best batmans it may be a long time before they try to reinvent this supa hero agin.
Bit long is only complaint. Otherwise WAY better than I'd hoped.
Heath is the scariest villan for a long time, but that, and the sfx, are about it.
The movie can't seem to decide what it is. The 'beautiful' heroine is pretty average-looking, and the story itself mucks about with a sub-plot (Two-Face) jammed onto the end. Christian Bale is flat and the film could've lost half an hour from the end and not suffered.
Gotham City is dark and foreboding but I just didn't care if Batman won.
I would love to give this 5 stars for Heath's performance,he deserves it. Aaron Eckhart is also fantastic and I'm looking forward to the next installment with 'two face'. However, Christain Bale has zero personality. Bring back Michael Keaton!! if he's not too old.
Heath is great as the joker - worth watching!
I really enjoyed this movie. It's definitely lives up to all the hype and Heath Ledger deserved every bit of that Oscar. His performance is brilliant!
Never been a big fan of Batman...But with Bale and Ledger, you can't go wrong
I was disappointed with this film and couldn't wait for it to end.. I was expecting a lot more than I got!
I agree with WESLEY's review, the film did suck and was at times boring.
The only redeeming factor was the performance of Heath Ledger.
Everybody else was napping! That includes, scriptwriter, director, and particularly editor, hated the style of chopping off scenes like that, it doesn't create suspense, just disjoints the film. How it won awards is
puzzling?!
most boring movie I have watched for some time.
Great movie, Heath was incredibly frightening as the Joker
It was okay. Heath was great but all in all I thought it as a pretty boring Batman movie!
Brilliant - the BEST Batman movie ever!
I was very impressed by the effects, the story AND Heath Ledger's performance; and frankly had wondered if that had been hyped up because of the fact that he had recently committed suicide - but I was wrong!
Heath's acting was SUPERB! What a shame that he appears to have chosen to end his life?
Steve
i dont know what all the fuss is about with this movie. An ok story line but very booring.
Absolutely brilliant movie. Was so good that I went and bought the blu-ray copy of it. Just a sad loss loosing Heath Ledger. He could have gone on to do greater things and he is definitely the star of the show. Christian Bale is also great but Heath does such a good job as portraying the Joker he takes the limelight. He will be sadly missed. Worth watching more than once.
Surprisingly good - my expectations had been lowered as a result of the posthumous hype surrounding Heath Ledger's performance. Howerver, much of that hype is warranted. Credit is also due to whomever devised The Joker's character (Bob Nolan?) The rest of the film is OK - I prefer the more gothic Gotham City settings of earlier films in the series.
Saved from Hollywood blah by Heath Ledgers stunning performance - I wouldn't rate it otherwise.
A bit long and convoluted - a storyline that seems to connect various scenes of mayhem and carnage - the Bat Bike was excellent - the action definitely picks up when The Joker is around - he just doesn't have the smallest bit of morality in him - well done, Heath.
A brilliantly dark and deep movie. More complex than I had expected. Heath of course was a standout. What a truly evil role he played... Not going to get it out of my mind for a while.
WAY better than i expexcted, i didn't want to believe the hype but it's there for a reason - Heath totally out-shone everyone!
I really enjoyed Heath's performance, what a waste of talent. I lost the plot a couple of times and I did find it a long movie but still thought it very worth watching.
Great performance by the joker, bu this does not save this disjointed and poorly edited movie......don't waste your time!
I can see why Heath is up for an oscar for this role...
Look the whole idea of Batman is very admirable but Nolan's story involving portrayals of "innocent people" dying because the hero won't unmask himself, is almost as absurd as Costas Mandylor's portrayal of Detective Lieutenant Mark Hoffman, in Saw 5, as an apprentice psychopath who tries to make himself look like a "victim" by using "his sister's death" as a justification for killing others without mercy. Nolan does the same thing except that he shows Batman as being a vigilante not a psychopath. In any case, Nolan's no better than the makers of the Saw sequels at least, not so much the original which is just a good psychological concept. Go Heath Ledger but the idea of portraying people dying needlessly because a so-called "hero" won't unmask himself, influences the wrong types of people in society in real life so it's pretty bad. And also, comparatively speaking, Jigsaw at least gives his victims, for the ones he's alive in, a chance to survive whereas Joker by Mr. Ledger, doesn't and the filmmakers as I said, use Batman to reinforce the Joker's own murderous ways and then try and justify it by saying that Batman cannot unmask himself because that would put all the other people he cares about, in jeopardy. It's the same with superman, no revealing but innocents still die. Wrong types of portrayals. Stick to not portraying innocent people dying with those kinds of crap and lame justifications.
Most of the time I am woken by the end credits every time someone puts on a Batman film. By God I still can't get over the Governator as Mr Freeze, or to begin it all Jack Nicholson playing the same character yet again. So yes Heath is most likely the best Batman Villain in film to date but his predecessors were not much chop. The story is tight and Heath didn't have to die to carry this film.
Fairly average but Ledger's performance got it through
Powerful film with outstanding performance by Heath Ledger. Visually stunning and sounds awesome. Very intriguing story to be told that resonates in today's society.
Certainly the best Super Hero movie made to this day and Heath Ledger is the one actor who made it so good, so special in my opinion. The Joker couldn't be more a maniac. The character of the Joker, the dialogues, the scenes and the acting of Heath are all in one a performance. The best vilain I have seen in a Super Hero movie and I've seen them all. Yep the movie is 20 mn too long and yes the plot can be quite hard to follow at times. Anyway it remains THE MOVIE of 2008 and one more time Heath Ledger is the best actor in this. I hope he gets the academy award.
I loved i! I do wonder though, if Heath Ledger had not so tragiaclly passed away, whether his performance would be recieving quite as many rave reviews. Although very, very impressive, I don't agree that he was as extraordinary as everyone claims. The Jim Gordon/Harvey Dent characters were also excellent, impressive performances yet I've hardly heard them mentioned. All that aside, a sinister, dark and marvellous film.
Granted Heath performance as Joker is the best of 'em all, but It was not as good as I thought it would be.
Best batman movie ever, it leaves the green goo wonder colour 50`s style behind and goes dark and modern the musical score is right on beat and
the action is relentless from the first scene.
As for heath, that laugh I will never forget, leaves jack nicholsons preformance child like in comparison.
Why so serious, indeed.
Heath Ledger...what can I say? His performance as The Joker is absolutely breathtaking. I couldn't take my eyes off him.
The supporting cast were fantastic as well.
Made my Top 5 Favourite Movie list!!
Deffinately by far the best batman movie yet. Heath plays the joker excellent throughout the whole movie.
I loved Batman Begins but found The Dark Knight somewhat of a disappointment. For a start the film is way too long and the storyline muddled and disjointed. Yes, Ledger puts in an interesting performance but nothing more. The action sequences are well staged but hardly break new ground. Despite these reservations, TDK is a hell of a lot better than most of these type of superhero movies.
Oh Heath...Possibly the most incredible Joker you will ever see. The movie seems rather uneventful when he is not around. If you are a fan you will enjoy it for what it is, but Heath Ledger as the joker, definitely steels the show.
