This is a dramedy, and not a romcom as the advertising suggests. I watch a lot of indie films and I like character-driven movies, but for people looking for a big budget Hollywood flick this is probably not your style. I really enjoy the naturalistic dialogue and low-key realism of the mumblecore genre. I love the way the Duplass brothers frame their movies - the shots, the music, the writing. Cyrus isn't the best Duplass film I've seen (Jeff Who Lives at Home dug a lot deeper into the characters, and had a much more effortless storytelling style), but it's got some lovely moments. It's a very gentle film, full of warmth. And it's kind to its characters and doesn't judge them, which is something far too rare these days.
I liked this one. Jonah Hill shows he has more strings to his bow and John C Reilly is perfectly cast. It actually made me laugh out loud and then almost made me cry. The camera work grows on you and becomes natural. Am I the only one who enjoyed it?
This is an unusual movie with unusual characters. I think it is worth a watch if you are looking for something different.
Don't expect any comedy in this romcom even with these two usually funny guys. Also the missus hated it so I guess there's not much rom or com. Waste of time.
This flick is filmed so badly and looks so cheap. Looks like the episode of a TV serie. Avoid!
Awkward. Not sure if the film was meant to be serious or a comedy.
I dont think it was a very good movie.I would not recommend it.
Out of the based on true stories that have flooded the market and usually from directers who forget they are shown up better on CI Channel on any pay TV network this one is a slight cut above the rest. A film crew interviews the friend of an infamous killer/cannibal and the film shows his last crime oddly instead of showing his life story. The acting is passible but Klaus who everyone loved as Leo from Charmed is even hard pushed here despite his talent making one wish he was in better films esp. his fans. The direction sets up the story well but stupidly throws in cut away news scenes which throws the pace. I understand they went for a new angle but it doesnt click and becomes very annoying. Plenty of blood and gore and this one is thus far the most brutal with gory killings, torture and even an impressive eyes pop with baseball bat much like breaking a bottle with someones palm except its a bat and a head but it comes more across as a gory side show then an interesting study into the mind of a distubed man and the way he pops out of nowhere in front of victims has Sorority House massarce printed all over it as in silly factor. It makes one wonder if he could teleport. The twist ending is so predictable even I guessed it and Im no expert at doing that. An average thriller but there are way better out there for Thriller fans.
I could not say that this movie was bad, it was different and done more like a home movie rather than the top end movie that I expected. The storyline was good and the basic premise of the movie you could understand and see happening in real life, however I would not recommend this movie to anyone that knew where I lived :-D and would not want to watch it a second time, but I'm happy to have seen it.
This was not a good movie. The way iot was filmed was really annoying as well, short, fast zooms, and the storyline was predicable. Its not funny whatsoever, nor romantic - just a pointless film not even worth worrying about...
Annoying voice over and a clumsy ending that has a twist that is underwhelming at best. Average use of the whole genre.
