This is a great movie, but you must pay attention to the details. Definitely not one for just veging and wanting light entertainment.
Loved it. Had no idea what it was going to be about, no preconceived ideas.
A great,up to the minute take on racism
This movie captivated me from start to finish. The performances were masterpieces. The story was incredible. It was just so touching. I don't feel sore about Brokeback Mountain losting Best Picture to this, because it was fantastic :)
Fantastic movie , a must see.
Enjoyed this movie more than I was expecting. Very cleverly done, loved they way he intertwined all the characters and I guess sometimes things like this do happen!
Crash is a clever and intriguing movie, with so many sub plots of people living there own lives and not interfering in others, until something goes wrong. Rating 4.5 starsw
A number of interwoven stories about conflict and difference. The characters are flung together by circumstance and they react as best they can. However, this often involves racism and violence, which unfortunately is common in human beings. This is an engaging and gripping movie that will have you on edge the whole time. There is never a dull moment, and when the little girl runs toward the gunman your heart stops beating! The only downside is that the viewer tends to be emotionally remote because there are no central characters for the them to identify with. However, well worth watching.
worst movie ever hated it .couple of hours of my life ill never get back absolute rubbish with great actors .waste of their talent
felt tense through most of movie waiting for outcome. Great movie, well acted and good storyline.
A well acted, well directed and well linked tale of people's situations affecting others. I enjoyed this very intricate and intertwining story and would recommend others to watch it too.
Great movie, can't believe some of the reviews posted here.
Boring and definately doesn't live up to the hype.
Loved this movie - a must see!!!
Somewhat confusing in places, but generally a good story. Worth watching if you like some action and drama combined. Did have a glitch in the middle which didnt help re story, lost track a bit but not bad.
If you enjoyed 6 Degrees Of Separation
Strange, weird movie. Didn't really enjoy it, but watched it all.
I turned this off after about 30 minutes. All the women/wives are bitches and antagonise their partners. Everyone is overtly racist and unlikeable. I know that's meant to be the point of the film but I couldn't like/relate to any of these people so I couldn't get into the story. Sure the world is a depressing place sometimes and people can be rude and racist and mean but do we really need movies to rub our faces in it?
Initially I thought this movie a little slow, but but by the end of it I was sitting there in awe. It definately gets the mind ticking over, the sad reality also hits home...this movie is a brutal depiction of how we could all destroy each other. Certainly a great watch.
A very clever screenplay intricately weaving characters and and subplots. Crash definitely makes the favorites list!
The worst Oscar winner since Forest Gump. Did Scientology have something to do with this ? It would explain a lot.
This is unexpectedly good. The cast are all excellent. A much better movie than Babel (similar genre). If you watch this and aren't moved by the scene with the father and young child (as depicted on the poster/photo left) you have a heart of stone. I am surprised by the venom of some of the bad reviews.... I really liked this movie.
We just didn't know what to expect with this movie but my wife and I were glued to the screen, we absolutely loved it and would recommend unreservedly!
It all comes together as u know it will...hope this movie doesn't reflect real life else we are in for trouble sooner or later...an escape into a parrallel universe would be a better description..not bad viewing tho..a 7/10 from me
powerful message in this story, how so many lives are intervene/crash in a small community. The good people turned bad, and the bad people turned good. The message is, everyone are given a second chance to be a better person. And guns should not be easily acquired on the strees of anywhere in the world. Accidents might just happened.
From the first frame to the last this is a masterpiece of American fim-making. We all know the problems with our democratic, multi-cultural societies, but this film delves deeper than our day-to-day experience to show us that each one of us has a story and a heart. It does this using every technique available to a truly great assembly of artists. Don't miss this movie.
Loved it. Good storyline, surprises, good acting, all round enjoyable movie, would recommend watching.
What a tangled web we weave when first we practice......racial stereotyping in the pressure cooker environment of a big city. Awesome movie with some great black humour. At times like watching peoples lives as cascading dominos and a jig saw puzzle coming together at the same time.
a powerful storyline and a cast to match. A must watch for everyone. will make you realize how ugly racism is.
Good movie - concentrate on the characters as they develop
This is a great movie I neede to watch it over again to pick up points I had missed really enjoyable.
I didnt really like this movie, it was all over the place, not my cup of tea
Thought provoking. So many characters but I never lost track. All their lives were intertwined. One can't guess how another will play a role in his/her life. Great movie! My sister who doesn't relish dramas, sat throughout.
Superb cinema. A real tour de force depicting emotional changes in those afflicted by prejudice and hatred.
over 80 reviews and you want to read mine, i am flattered, ok great movie, great story brilliantly acted out,
get it you want be disapointed, also get Grand Canyon with Danny Glover and the guy who makes the underwear. extra's are pretty average, but after such a great movie you don't need the frills
Fantastic film, would definitely watch it again.
Very, very good - thought provoking, powerful, moving!
Quite liked this movie, being of ethnic background myself, Found how its amazing how many lives just interlock without us knowing. Good movie keeps u interested throughout.
Oh...My...God... This is an awesome movie. I cannot recall any other US movie that conveys a mood and a message this graciously. If only we'd see more movies of this pedigree from Hollywood. Even Kieslowski or Hallström will loose sleep over how Crash's underplayed storytelling is giving them healthy competition in quality moviemaking. Acting, super. Music score, sublime. Ability to make you forget you're watching a movie, awesome. Relevance for us humans, spot on.
Very enjoyable. First time in a while where I've actually cared about the characters in a film.
Really worth seeing, don't be scared off by the 'difficult' subject matter - this movie really works without going overboard. The fact that it is beautifully shot from the start only adds to the enjoyment factor
Sometimes quite depressing but also very eyeopening account of how multi cultural society doesn't always work well, certainly not like in Australia as it appears to be in LA.
This terrific drama is not for the faint-hearted. Challenging, but rewarding, it's not really "about" anything more than the complexity of life in the modern era, and the prejudices we all have but would rather not acknowledge... "I'm not racist, but..." In terms of plot? This one's more about character - to plot the journeys of the many characters (with their just as numerous strengths and foibles) would render the "point" of this film quite pointless... Each of the characters stand out; from Bullock as the well-heeled victim of her circumstance who's only true "friend" is her loyal Hispanic maid, to the "black guy" who rambles on ad infinitum about systemic racism - forgetting that he's just as racist... and by his behaviours let alone attitudes, feeds the racims he rails against... The direction of this film is flawless; we learn to appreciate each of the things the characters feels, despite perhaps not liking them. The human condition is what it is, and only with care and compassion can we not live by the law of the jungle... This film stays with you for days, and makes you thankful for - amongst other things - that gun law in Australia is pretty tight... and makes you look around at your (hopefully) multcultural friends with renewed hope that the things they taught you about the goodness of the human spirit will triumph. Such should never need to be explained. Highly recommended.
Don't be taken in by the accolades heaped on this movie. Its a shocker. The comic bits are not funny and the sad bits not worth a tear. The story-line meanders about all over the place being mainly concerned in fulfilling its politically-correct purpose, and is so contrived it goes beyond credibility. Even Miss Congeniality fails to raise the bar. So, caveat emptor!
Deftly woven story threads. Great performances from a very strong ensemble cast.
Better than Babel. Great script and acting. A really enjoyable and insightful film with one wonderful twist and another that was believable enough.
Very different, fast moving and definitely kept me interested all the way to the end.
A look at multiracial LA and how people go about their daily lives, it seems in a constant struggle to survive. Good cast in Matt Dillon, Sandra Bullock, Brendan Fraser and Don Cheadle.
It's a OK movie, so didnt deserve oscar best pic, Brokeback mountain way much better. Bad story line, and ok acting performance.
A terrific movie. Powerful and moving, an honest and insightful observation of human behaviour at its worst and best. The acting is superb. I highly recommend it.
very slow movie, what we got to see of it
saw this movie before it won the oscar for best picture and thought it was fantastic.when it won the oscar I was delighted as it was not very well known.
many have tried to copy its format since however none come close to crash.if you have never seen before you are in for a treat.
interesting, enjoyed this movie
Not much of a movie. I thought it was hard to follow.
I know I am not alone in thinking this film is fantastic. Again, it has taken a non-linear approach to stroy-telling, with multiple threads and a list of finely drwan and complex characters. Intelligent film-making for those who appreciate films like Babel and Traffic.
it was ok, but not my type of movie
this movie did not appeal to me.Ifound it disjointed to follow,it may be a writing style or editors choice, may be I was not concentrating.Ifind most movies hold my full interest, this one did notbut I cant say for what reason.Dontlet my opinion put yu off
This movie should be watched by everyone...Very real and confronting...outstanding
Interesting movie that kept your mind thinking. Well written.
A must-see. I very, very rarely say that about a movie, but this one is written beautifully, acted superbly, and - even though the director is a scientologist - it is directed brilliantly. Stories begin separately and are woven together as the movie progresses. Even if this device normally gives you the proverbials, Crash does it well - nothing jars or irritates. Go with it and enjoy a superb film.
My husband said it was the best movie he has seen in a long time....I was quite so convinced.
I could not get into it,boring
There seems to be a few of these types of movies in recent years which weave topical issues into a complex framework in attempt to give the subject matter the appearance of being more profound that it probably is. While interesting I feel as if it is not actually offering anything new.
this film is great to watch. So many different topics in so many different situation
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Not a Sandra Bullock fan normally, but she was wonderful. Subtle with its message, and all actors played their roles brilliantly. Superb cast, superb script. Thought about it long after the movie ended.
Too many different story lines for me. Quit watching after 30 min. But perhaps I am just dumb.
If you liked Babel, you will LOVE Crash.
It does what Babel didn't, it told a fast, suspenseful, compelling story of how the lives of exceptionally different people could 'crash' into one another and even mirror each others hopes and fears.
Those fears push reasonable people to do things they normally wouldn't, but not always in the negative directions you might think.
Telling a story like that with decent pace? THAT speaks of a real effort on behalf of the writer, cast and crew!
A slow starter, but wow, once the story unwound it was amazing. Who'd have thought it would turn out that way (I guessed the final twist at the end).
Deserved all the awards it won. A gripping films about prejudice and racism in America.
Though a bit cliched in parts, this is undoubtedly a powerful, thought-provoking film and deserved its Oscar if only to highlight and draw attention to the racism that is always just bubbling below the surface of us all. See it!
This movie can be heavy going for a while but it all comes together in the end. It shows that everyone has their fears and prejudices. Tough guys have a soft side, good guys make mistakes.
Makes you think about your place in this racially intolerant world and th interrelatedness of all things .
Makes you think about your place in this racially intolerant world and th interrelatedness of all things .
This is a must see movie!! Excelent, as it shows people's true feeling about interracial relations on street level. Should be a lesson to all as it is not only in the U.S. but all over the world, where the population is mixed.
this movie is AMAZING!!! everyone MUST watch this!! deeply moving movie for both men and women.
Very entertaining and thoughtful for a "thriller"
A stunner! Virtually flawless in all departments, don't miss this great movie.
Very depressive movie - makes me not want to visit America!
this movie is in my top ten, it held my attention from start to finish a great story with some fantastic acting , and may you think what racisim actually means.
It all comes together in the end. Must watch uninterrupted, to get the whole picture.
Great movie - makes you think. Still thinking about different characters the next day.
Great movie showing racial prejudice & hatred at it's worst as well as humanity at it's best.
One of the best movies I've seen, with disturbing themes relevant to contemporary America - racism, romance and redemption.
Why can I ask do script writers think that in todays world people enjoy hearing the "F" word spoken almost every second word, I for one don't and will not tolerate it on our TV let alone in our house. There was not even a story line so to us it has nothing going for it. We watched 30mins of it hoping it would get better but were disappointed
There was no plot, pretty ordinary really. Go for a walk down the mall instead.
A moving and timely movie, Crash never once lapsed into mediocrity and I never once looked to see how long the movie had to go. A triumph of film making and deservedly won the Oscar for Best Picture.
A well selected cast are thrown together to systematically build & unbuild a story of love and racism in LA. Loved it!
Interweaving of several people's lives. In today's world we are all so separate from each other that we need to crash into another person to feel anything.
definately a 'must see' movie
Confronting and at times touching story about the American Dream being more of a nightmare than anything else. Or was there a glimmer of hope....
We really did not enjoy this movie
Great Film, intertwining stories are always interesting!
Really thought provoking movie with the theme of racial and skin colour discrimination. A little exaggerated but I think it was essential to make the point that discrimination is an underlying tension amongst people of the world today!
Was quite unrealistic. Focused too much on racism with no real storyline
one of the best movies I've ever seen - stayed with me many days after viewing it. So many levels to appreciate it - brilliant script, great acting, thoughtful subject matter. Awesome.
Wonderful ensemble movie. thoroughly deserved its Oscar. don't miss it.
a lot of twists to this movie
A brilliant, understated commentary on the complexity of racial tensions. With excellent performances all round, characters of depth and a poignant storyline this is a very memorable, enjoyable and thought-provoking film.
Brialliant - powerful messages here delivered with first class acting. Six degrees of separation for the noughties. Confronts the viewer & challenges you to examine your own beliefs about prejudice & intolerance of those around us. Almost a classic - thouroughly recommended viewing.
This movie conjures up emotions of anger and sadness at the reality of racism and the like in society. I think it ends rather weakly & is dragged on for a bit too long; otherwise it would have been excellent.
Absolutely compelling and thought provoking. Drawn in from the first second, by a great storyline and marvellous actors. It was interesting to see some actors in roles they wouldn't normally take on. I would recommend it to anyone.
very interesting movie sad in some parts as to the racial diference but in the end found out that the majority of people have good hearts
All star cast! It really hits you how much fear there is now between the races.
An excellent movie with an excellent cast. A Pulp Fiction type storyline, where lives innocently interact with each other along the way. Don't miss this one!!
The movie's theme - racism - is not subtly presented to the audience, but then again subtley is no strong point of American popular culture. How they managed to get such a terrific cast line up amazes, and the pace of the story never weakens. So refreshing to see a quality American product with a solid political and social message.
Nice to look at but I think it's too heavy handed in it's message (being a script problem). That took away from it's realism. In the end worth seeing for some performances but universaly overrated in my opinion.
excellent movie about racial predjudices. set in USA but applies to all races. it highlights how each race of people is racist in some way and the detriment we face as a society because of it. a must see film.
A rivetting drama about racism in America. A very moving and well made movie.
Brilliant movie, definately not to be missed. High and lows and most unexpected.
very good mat dillion is a fine actor as a cop the storey is just good
Over rated crap .... do yourself a favour .. go to church if you want to be preached to. Predictable and contrived, and to think this won the best picture Oscar. Only in Amerika.
A very dark film, very raw
Enjoyed it, good story, great performance.
This movie was excellent even though it is depressing. Unfortunately this shows what real life is like for a lot of people, just because of the colour of their skin. Even though it was sad, there were some enlightening moments when people discovered they are treated as humans despite the colour of their skin.
Very good and loved the way it all came together in the end.
the cast is excellent that is why it won an academy award it makes you think and has a great message.
Outstanding performances; unexpected twists; humanity writ raw.
I found this movie to be depressing.
Not a classic, but none the less an outstanding movie with a brilliant thought provoking story line. One of the most enjoyable I have seen for some time. It is the sort of movie that keeps you thinking about it long after you have finished watching it. Hopefully we can all learn something about tolerance and shared humanity. A fantastic cast who portray their roles with true professionalism, except for Tony Danza who is only in it for two minutes - probably just as well !
Original & dark movie about racism in the US.
A very witty insight to racial divides. Shows how even if you think you have no racial prejudices we all do in some form.
strange movie - never really got it
great flick , full of great moments..makes you wonder about the choices you make in your own life..!
Great movie!!! Another one of those 6 degrees of seperation type movies, shows how total strangers are involved with each other and don't even know it. Great movie and has a twist or two.
