3 very good actors & performances (Macy, Bello & Baldwin) lift this basically B-grade, corny & unbelievable plotline to a 3 star rating for me.

Can't fully rate this as the DVD was problematic. Missed some bits at the beginning and then film jammed with 5 minutes to go. Not HAPPY, Jan.

A nice love story. The rest is best described - as the actors and director do in the bonus features - as a fairy tale noir. Somewhere near the ending it stops making any sense at all. As for the interviews in the bonus material, the (unseen) interviewer is unbelievably incompetent.

A very nice easy going film with some brief moments of sex and violence. Pity about the ending!

OK film, good performances. The extras gave a good insight into the filming of a scene.

Oh really! I have to say this is the movie I watched for the least amount of time ever. I even sat through 'Police Academy 6' when it was released, and even survived 'Unbreakable' even though I christened that movie "unwatchable." Other than the opening scenes of Vegas, the opening character scene, where every single person starts losing as soon as William H Macy's character ventures into their vicinity was a complete sham and had me instantly turned off. There's probably some arthouse metaphor for the way in which the character transfers his emotions to his surrounding reality -- for me, it's not worth the bother. Given the other reviews, there is obviously a lot of people who love the movie -- maybe my perception is why I rarely believe what the critics say! Just goes to show we all have different opinions.

Superbly directed drama ,set in a Las Vegas casino , involving a grambling "looser " who experiences a turn around in his life after meeting a soul mate. The character portrayals - the egotistical manager, the obnoxious son, the cynical bar maid - were great and elevated this movie to the starry heights.

Great film, superb performances. A character driven story indispersed with scenes of graphic sex and extreme violence, and themes of luck and love. Well worth a watch.

As usual William H. Macy is superb - he plays the part of a loser who gets lucky! Alec Baldwin plays the casino boss who keeps Macy on a tight reign over a gambling debt. The film is also very much a love story between Macy & Maria Bello, a drink waitress at the casino who has been employed by Baldwin to keep Macy at the casino doing what he does best - ruin everyone's luck!
