Based on the DC/Vertigo comic book Hellblazer, Constantine tells the story of irreverent supernatural detective John Constantine who has literally been to hell and back. When Constantine teams up with skeptical policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister, their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles.

Good performances, visually excellent, good storyline. If you have a good knowledge of the bible, it's even more entertaining. Worth a watch.

Kind of disappointing when the synopsis made it sound so good. I'm not entirely sure why it disappointed me though - all the elements were there: interesting premise, good performances, great special effects. But somehow it never really came together - I was left with the impression that it could have been so much better.

Movie starts of reasonably well but soon develops into good versus evil nonsense with the usual reliance on special effects, although the depiction of hell is particularly good.

I had great hope for this film, despite my reservations about Keanu's ability to act. Unfortunately I found it to be a rather dull, standard comic adaptation which, like other films of this type i.e. Hellboy, has lost something important in the translation to film.

A good ride of a film with exceptional special effects and a performance by Keanu Reeves that makes you think that, like wine, he's getting better with age. Rachel Weisz is, as always, great! The theological plot might put some viewers off.

Despite being yet another comic adaptation (and not a very accurate one at that), this works quite well. Tilda Swinton does a great job in this even though she doesn't have the biggest part. Marginally deeper than most pop corn flicks. Great for one of those nights where you aren't into watching something deep.

If you like movies like Van Helsing or the like from this fantasy genre with that undertone of religious history then you'll enjoy. Keanu Reeves is pretty good as the main character.
