Agreed with Kevin's review that this one is a remake which is not up to the standard of the original in terms of castings, story-line and cinematography. The problem is too much use of CG tricks. Still it is quite OK for entertainment.

Different and not as great as the original "A Chinese Ghost Story", but overall this is watchable. Somehow, there is a very "Asian and Chinese" feel to this movie. The story is a bit over-done but somewhat entertaining due to its fighting scenes and "ancient" setting.

It's been a long time since I saw the original, so I can't really compare, but this was charming enough to check out.
