Star race car Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in Cars 2 when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world's fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater's action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colourful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.

I thought it was ok it and I agree with others that said it was nice to see Mater in the hero role. The first one had a certain charm to it which was a bit lacking in this. I've heard this alot actually and hope if they do make another one -& they probably will; it will be a bit better.

This is a terrible film. The original film was fantastic, but Cars 2 has only one purpose - to help Disney sell more Cars merchandise! The plot in the second film lacks any sort of coherent story, and the central character of the first film, Lightning McQueen is absent for most of the time. Disney must have spent most of their budget on the computer graphics and left the breadcrumbs for the writers. Just pretend this film never happened, otherwise it will ruin your enjoyment of the first one!

Quite disappointing. There are some funny moments and it gets interesting toward the end. It was also nice to see Mater in the role of the hero. However, there's a lot of filler between action and it just doesn't have the heart that the first movie had.

I ordered this movie for my 2 year old grandson as I mind him every Tuesday but I guess he is too young and lost interest after a short time. I think this is more for 3/4 years and older.

We thought it was brilliant...but it failed to grab the attention of either our 5 or 3 year olds. We figure they were probably aiming for the now older kids who fell in love with the original Cars.

The first Pixar movie I can honestly say I don't like, at all. A weak and hackneyed plot cannot save a movie that is visually spectacular; Pixar forgot the heart, a mistake I hope they never make again.

OK, almost as funny as the first, although the storyline was a bit complicated for kids, and my boys tuned out a times, only the action and Mater kept their attention. Good for adults!

Great family entertainment. I think better than Cars 1, probably because the storyline has a few more adult concepts - very James Bond in an animated way. Well produced and presented.

I found this movie very disappointing. What a shame. The creators seem to have forgotten who their audience is. The animation was great, as were some of the effects, but who could follow the storyline - esecially if you are under 5 or under 8. My children are aged 6 and 7 and lost interest very quickly, never really getting into it at all. I'd say this is only good for older kids who understand in-jokes and ))& movies. The only thing useful for younger kids is the fact it has some talking cars!

(spoilers) Got turned off a bit at the beginning sequence.... however, got quickly drawn back in by Mater :D Cars 2 has 007 in a car version... and Mater the unwittingly and unwilling spy. :) with some unusual twists and turns.... It all worked out in the end Yeah, once I realised what was happening it was very entertaining. !

Not really for the younger child, but a really good show for the adults. Very James Bond like, Cars style. Excellent work on the details, sometimes hard to realize your watching something drawn up rather than filmed in reality! The cars 'dying' is a sad part about it, especially with Hudson Hornet seemingly disappearing with no explanation at all about where he went. But I loved it. After I got used to the completely and utterly different style to the first one. If compared... well, you can't. Two of the main characters, and that's about it. No comparison. Ones for preschoolers, the other's for school age. All good for adults.

We didn't think this had the humour to keep adults as entertained as some of the other animated features we have seen recently, such as Rango and Kung Fu Panda 2. It's more aimed at the kids market. It's brilliantly made and great to watch, but lacked a little in story and writing.

If you liked 'Cars' you'll LOVE 'Cars 2'. This time Lightning McQueen takes a backseat to his towtruck friend Mater. Loads of great action sequences. There's even a new Toy Story short which takes place after the events of 'Toy Story 3'.

Great kids movie, maybe not as good as the original but still very clever, witty, huge attention to detail and the international element adds an entirely new dimension to the movie. Not many would be disappointed.

A loud, bright, colourful and fun installment. There is too much Mater - he is the Jar Jar Binks of the Cars franchise - take him out and the movie is better for it. The movie loses its way mid through with the fossil fuel storyline but picks up quickly when it gets back to racing. Nice cameo by an Aussie V8 car character. Sally is a very minor character in this one. The kids will love it. Recommended.
