Just like the name suggests, Caramel lets you discover the sweetness of life. Its a treat, brimming with warmth tenderness and joy. It tells the tale of five female friends with an appetite for life and a taste for love. Written, directed and starring superstar of tomorrow Nadine Labaki, Caramel has become the most internationally acclaimed Lebanese film of all time Lebanons answer to Sex and the City. A hit across Europe and the UK, Caramel does not depict a war ravaged Beirut as other Lebanese fare does, but rather a warm and inviting exotic locale where people deal with universal issues.

I loved this, it was genuine, touching, funny and well made. My only negative is the translation doesn't do any justice to the movie.

Nicely done ensemble piece, looking at the complicated lives of a group of, mainly, women in Beirut. Not if you're after an action flic!

I loved the understatedness of this movie. The women never overplay their roles and issues seem genuine in a cultural as well a universal context.

A case of spending one and half hours waiting for something to happen or a story to emerge, but there is no story and nothing happens. You wonder what this movie was supposed to be about and why it was ever made.

A delightful and gentle peek into the lives and loves (imagined and otherwise) of a beauty salon in Beirut. Lovingly portrayed by one and all.
