Really fun. Chris Evans does a great job creating a lovable character.
Different, Action packed but watchable futuristic
Good effects but the story failed to grip me. Very slow in parts no edge of seat stuff. The blu ray transfer was top notch though, two stars as its better than spiderman but not by much.
Not bad, good effects, good storyline. Quite enjoyed it.
Not knowing anything about the Captain America character meant that I liked the longish character development that this film offers, but if you're already on top of all that then you might be impatiently awaiting the action. The setting amongst the real-life 1940s war dramas is a nice touch. Chris Evans is likeable and humble and all the right qualities to keep you rooting for him right to the end. A good watch. And of course leaving it open for a sequel....
I was pleasantly surprised by this move. Not into Marvel and have not read any of the comics. Thought the movie was a little long towards the end, but found it an enjoyable experience to watch. Was curious about how they did the transition from skinny to muscly and watched the little extra about this on the blu-ray disc. Pretty amazing what they have done!
If you like movies which are straight into the action, then either find another movie or skip the first half. Fairly good, although probably too long, character development to tell the audience (who is presumed not to have read the comics) exactly who Captain America is and why he's important. The action is the usual US versus Nazis (a la Indiana Jones). Special Effects are believable, although Hugo Weaving's German accent sounds more like Arnie than a regular German. 3.5 stars in retrospect. Sets up the Avengers movie coming in 2012.
I'm not really into comic book hero movies but I have to say that this was a great movie, very fast, clever and funny with very good performances- Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and our own Hugo Weaving who steals the show. Sure the action scenes became a little boring but overall this is an excellent ride.
The extras on the disc are terrific particularly how the transfromations of Chris Evans and Hugo's Red Skull character were made possible.
OK, so far the other reviewers here have not been very keen on the movie? I have to say that I'm a big fan of the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre and found this one did not disappoint. A great storyline that really sets the base for Captain America's origin (and any future movies) - and lots of action made it one to see; IMO.
If you like Sci-Fi/Fantasy like me - you'll like this one!

Nothing special , like many others.
I watched this assuming it would be packed with action 'blowing- things-up' scenes. Alas, I was disappointed. Go into watching this one as an introduction to Captain America, rather than a full action flick.
I didn't care much for this show. It was more on soldiers fighting the war than a superhero movie. My husband loved it though cos he's into war stuff. The film was also very draggy. 30 mins into the show only he becomes Captain America.
an excellent marvel movie that for me really was told and written well and had qualities of a successfull future unlike many other attempts to bring our comic book super heros or villians to the screen and keep em there like most recently batman with christian bale has made a remaining impression on viewers i rekon. anyway captain america was very involving, entertaining and left me thinking about whats next,so for me this was an excellent movie and rate it 9.5 outta 10 and look forward to a sequel...
