Burning Man is the reckless, sexy, funny, moving and ultimately life-affirming story of Tom, a British chef in a Bondi restaurant, who seems to have decided there are no longer any rules he needs to obey. Whatever Tom is up to, his actions seem to be tolerated by those around him. As Tom descends into darkness, fragments of a different story begin to emerge. All the women in his world are trying in their own, very different ways to help put him back together.

I thought this was a really good movie. That said, the start of the movie is very confusing with a whole lot of brief, disjointed scenes out of sequence, and you wonder what on earth is going on. Please persevere - significant events happen and everything all starts to fall into place and make perfect sense. I was really impressed by the acting, particularly the lead actor Matthew Goode (never heard of him before) and the young boy who plays his son. Initially, the lead character Tom seems to be an irresponsible hothead Lothario, who also happens to have an 8 yr old son living with him. However, it gradually becomes apparent that nothing is what it seems and, in fact, a very tragic event has caused Tom to behave so recklessly. SPOILER ALERT: This movie sensitively deals with the sad decline and death of a young mother and the impact it has on her loving husband and young son. For anyone who has been through a similar circumstance, it may be very difficult and painful to watch this movie.

Just OK - I agree that the plot was hard to follow; by the time it had come together it was a much better movie than the really fragmented first three-quarters.

Very hard to follow. Unfortunately Australian film makers seem to think they have to do arty films instead the story was good if it did not take 1/2the movie to work out what the heck was happening.

Great cast draws you in to (yet another ) angry man rant, but all is not what it seems at first. Worth watching for the early restaurant scenes.
