An enjoyable movie. Reasonably funny. I think the movie is most interesting for the numerous cameo appearances of a number of well-known actors.

An interesting tale, good period settings. But a very abrupt ending.....not good for children (there are hangings) A movie well worth watching.

Two cunning corpse snatchers, Burke and Hare, a team of doctors in a prestigious school of medical learning, ready to pay for corpses, a young woman aspiring to become a theatre actress who falls in love with Hare, and the diminutive actor Ronnie Corbett, as a captain of the Royal Guard, captures Hare and send him to the gallows for digging corpses in the cemetery with Burke and snatching others on dead-beds for delivery to the medical centre. The film faithfully reproduces Edinburgh in 1828, the populace of the period and the gallows. Some scenes especially where Corbett appears are funny but others with blood spilling all over are too gory for my liking.

I was a bit disappointed with this film. I love some of Simon Pegg's other movies (like Run Fat Boy Run, Shaun of the Dead) but this just lacked that laugh-out-loud factor. It was watchable, but not as good as I'd hoped.

This movie is typical British black humour. Pegg and Serkis are both fantastic (and quite horrid) and the supporting cast is great (surprise cameo by Ronnie Corbett - from the 2 Ronnies if you are old enough to remember that!) If you enjoy dark humour and aren't grossed out by body snatchers it's definitely worth a watch - good movie1

I am a fan of Simon Pegg - but not in this movie. Its a pitty as there was so much talent in it, but some how it was all wrong - I have seen Tim Curry play better villans, and who in their right mind cast Ronnie Corbet?? Isla Fisher looked like she was reprising a role from another film - i forget because it was so bad! - and the gags were slightly out of time..

Good British (Scottish/Irish??) black humour. Stupendous cast, all having loads of fun with their grisly roles no doubt.

I got thus due to Simon Pegg as I can watch him in anything (geek made good) but its not as good as I thought it would be, the tone is all wrong and the accents seem forced, disappointing.

A black comedy about two 19th century grave robbers who find a lucrative business providing cadavers for an Edinburgh medical school. It had its moments but generally average

Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis make a great comic duo in this black comedy of grave robbers in Edinburgh in the nineteenth century. There are some great comic moments and a few cheesy efforts. Good light entertainment without reaching any great heights. Supporting cast includes many Brit comedians like Jessica Hynes (Stevenson), Bill Bailey, Michael Smiley … and Ronnie Corbett!

It was a funny movie is places. A good flick for a light mood or one for a filler! Simon Pegg played a dull roll, it was nothing like his other movies. The cast was good and the story was light hearted.

Not that great a flick. Watched to the end but never raised more than a smile. Hubby did get a few giggles but overall a bit disappointing. Normally really enjoy Simon Pegg flicks but this one was just a bit "Ho Hum".

I am a huge Simon Pegg fan, but there is a reason you probably haven't heard of this film and why it went pretty quickly to DVD. Despite the absolute plethora of great actor cameos this film ultimately falls flat. The set-up narration to the story by Bill Bailey is twee. Although I smiled during the film, I didn't laugh once! My partner left the room a quarter of the way through and although I battled on to the end I cannot say it was worth it. This really is a film where all the funny bits are in the trailer. While Andy Serkis was excellent as Hare there is something in the Pegg/Frost formula that works and was really missing in this film. If you are a Pegg/Frost fan, expect to be disappointed.
