"The Buddy Holly Story" is the critically acclaimed biographical music drama detailing the life and times of legendary rock n roller Buddy Holly. The film's star Gary Busey was a Buddy Holly fan in his youth and his extreme passion for the subject matter shows in his performance. Gary was so determined to get things right that he even did his own singing and I might add, he did an excellent job of recreating that dynamic Buddy Holly sound. When you watch "The Buddy Holly Story" you will believe that Gary Busey is Buddy Holly. His look, his voice, his mannerisms and of course his sound is pure Buddy Holly. At the Academy Awards & Golden Globe Awards Gary Busey was nominated for the "Best Actor" award. Although he didn't win at these awards Busey did go on to clean up at other award ceremonies winning, "Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles" at the "British Academy Film Awards", and "Best Actor" at the "National Society of Film Critics Awards". Also of interest is that "The Buddy Holly Story" had the honour of winning the Academy Award for "Best Music". Buddy Holly fans are in for a real treat as the film's thundering soundtrack is jam-packed with Buddy Holly favourites such as "That'll Be The Day", "Rave On", "True Love Ways", "Oh Boy", "Peggy Sue", "Everyday", "Maybe Baby" and lots more. "The Buddy Holly Story" is the definitive Buddy Holly movie, not only a Buddy Holly biography but also a real history of the era. It will take you back to the good old days of Rock 'n' Roll.

This is a celebration of the short lived life of a famous 50's rock ‘n roller. Gary Busey plays Buddy and is the reason for the film’s success. He gives to the role plenty of energy, musical talent (no dubbing here) and driving ambition.
