Mild coarse language, themes and violence

Director: Cindy Meehl
Actors: Buck Brannaman, Robert Redford

Buck follows Buck Brannaman from his abusive childhood to his phenomenally successful approach to horses: a real-life horse-whisperer, he eschews the violence of his upbringing and teaches people to communicate with their horses through leadership and sensitivity, not punishment. Buck possesses near magical abilities as he dramatically transforms horses – and people – with his understanding, compassion and respect. A truly inspiring story about an unsung hero, Buck will have audiences laughing through their tears, overcome by the story of how an ordinary man has made an extraordinary life for himself, in spite of tremendous odds.

Pity Buck doesn't have the same empathy and consideration for other animals as he does for the horses. Cattle roping as a sport? Traumatising cattle and receiving accolades and prizes for who can do this best. in the arena is appalling. And bungled efforts by the 'cowboys' in this sport just add to the grief. To see frightened calves run and come down in terror is not my idea of empathy. Nothing like entertaining the crowd!! 2 stars for his work with horses, minus 3 for his lack of compassion for other animals. Doesn't think much of his wife's dogs either. He can't understand why she has 'too many' but accepts this as long as he has his horses. A bit of tunnel vision? At least he is educating people about the treatment of one species, so for this it is worth a watch.

A beautiful, moving experience - we loved it - the fact that the lip sync was way out was ffrustratinggg, but we could see through that technical glitch, to the pearl underneath.

Good movie. The very humanistic story of an unusual man and his ability to relate to horses. There are also some insights on his partner and his daughter. Not much drama. a bit too long

As a horse owner practising natural horsemanship after seeing Pat Parelli using the same methods as Buck, I really enjoyed this movie.

What an incredible man he is, so many people would become bitter because of his early life experiences, but he has turned it around to inspire him to great understanding of horses. My wife is the horse lover and she gives this 5 stars, I am definitely not a horse lover but I also give this movie 5 stars for the inspirational attitude.

Enjoyable documentary about an amazing man and particularly interesting if you have horses, but equally as delightful if you don't.

Wow, I really enjoyed this doco. Buck Brannaman is simply amazing with what he can do with horses. I love his horse, must be the best mannered horse in the world.

Loved this doco for the opportunity to see a great and honest man at work doing what he loves best. This is an inspiration for everyone. So many seem to learn "how" from their parents when it is necessary to learn "how not to"

All this talk about being kind, gentle but firm with horses... And to declare about a difficult stallion: "the sooner you have it cut (i.e., castrated), the better"... Is the vet doing the cutting going to have a kind and gentle knife? What a joke!

One of the best documentaries I've seen. Much abused as a child, this man turned his life around and has made a huge contribution to the well being of four legged animals and two legged animals.
