An uplifting movie, such fun. Makes you want to get up & dance Bollywood style!
i just cant find the disc for bride and prejudice
This movie is a Bollywood take on Jane Austen Pride & Prejudice, & was well done great family movie
If you are in to Bollywood movies then this is a good start! Great dance scenes and music to bop along to.
Well I though I would try bollywood at its most western. I still cant do it. Sorry this movie was light crap. You know the ending before it starts.
This movie has magically combined Hollywood and Bollywood. Its interplay is above average and thiose ladies are gorgeous!
I tried to like bollywood as much as I tried to like the Pride and Prejudice parody but it didn't work for me. Colourful and light but I still don't love Mr Darcy
Funny and clever, well done: I am sure Jane Austen would have been proud.
If you enjoy musicals and like the Bollywood style of dance and music then this movie is a must see. An uptight rich American gets taken to India with a friend to attend a wedding. Boy meets girl, girl thinks boy is a tool but of course true love wins out in the end. One thing I did notice about this Bollywood movie is there is not kissing and no sex. It makes a pleasant change to watch a love story unfold in this way.
We really enjoyed this movie, it was easy to watch, you didn't have to think about it much and the dancing and fun in the movie was infectious.
This movie could have been cut down to 30 mins, it took too long to get to the point and it was very predictable.
loved it - it was all I thought it would be and more!
This has to be one of my favourite movies
Wonderful and funny. A feel good movie
Busy, busy, busy. Confusing beginning but then became a happy story.
I loved this movie so much that I bought the dvd. music great and the dancing very bright. brings bollywood to the europeans
I absolutely love this movie. Have watched it over and over and sometimes in the one weekend. Love the dancing, costumes and singing. The lead actress is a very beautiful girl. Recently saw her in another movie and loved that as well.
Music & dancing gets you into it.Story line great & full of laughs from start to end
Loved it!!! Loved Bend it like beckham too!! I usually hate movies like this but I think the music and dancing made it so much better!!
fast and faster great entertainment
I found it interesting to see how Pride and Prejudice translated to the Indian screen but it didn't have the tension or the sublety of the original. I like musicals but I wasn't really taken with this one. Not enough of a sense of discovery for one the female lead.
lively and very entertaining
Apart from an average plot, the actual cast and cotumes combined with the bollywood dancing is sure to keep you entertained. Very interesting and funny to watch.

cute movie great for bollywood movie fans
Our entire family enjoyed the music, dancing and colour of this movie, including our 13 y.o who was watching her first bollywood.great movie
A classic tale retold in lively, colourful, not to metion musical 'Bollywood' fashion. An enjoyable wholesome movie for all ages. I watched it Twice!
Loved the dancing - just like a classic Hollywood movie where the actors just burst into song and dance whenever they feel like it. Nice movie and plenty of eye candy for both the boys and the girls.
Fun to watch. I have close contact with a Hindu man who has been married recently in a similar style in India. It was good to see what he went through.
I actually thought this movie would be boring and typical from the commercials, but boy was I wrong. It was really fun and entertaining, despite the heavy accents (just turn on the subtitles if you have trouble catching everything they're saying!). Honestly, once it was over I wanted to watch it again...and a confession, I did go back and watch some of the better songs/dances :)
Obviously I just don't get into the whole "Bollywood" thing. I had looked forward to watching this as the previews looked fab but found it boring, overdone and monotonous. If you don't like people bursting into ridiculous songs in movies don't get this one.
This was a fun, colourful film with all the old values still in place.
Couldn't get into the film at all then I'm not into musicals unless they are live! Bit cliche for me.
Entertaining but not brillant
Good insight into the upcoming New Indian Rich jet-set.
Very colourful, nice scenery, good-looking people, and no swearing, sex or drugs- these are its best features.
On the other hand, the story was mostly in English, hardly any Indians of colour were featured, and generally it was like a soap opera with European looking people, whose only Indian features were Indian clothes, living in an Indian palace, an accent of sorts, and olive skin.
Aishwarya Rai, (a Brahmin actress who looks like a Middle Eastern version of Romy Schneider) stars opposite Heath Ledger's Kiwi friend Martin Henderson (he does a good fake American accent). The story is complete with an English villain who wants to get a young girl pregnant, and a greedy, predatory Mataji.
The film appears to be made for young rich Indian girls, who want to marry a multi-millionaire American. If you like English language films starring angry Indian women and desperate young men who love them, e.g. 'Bend it like Beckham' and 'Monsoon Wedding,' you'll probably like this one. If you want to see a more realistic India, 'Bandit Queen' and even 'Gandhi' would be better choices.
so much fun and I loved the music. a great retelling of a classic story
Colourful, cheery, wholesome - nice escapism, especially for the ladies.
Appealing stars,beautifully photgraphed
Very interesting and entertaining. Loved the singing and dancing.
A "feel good" movie with plenty of colour and dancing and manage to weave a story in between, look on it as a bit of life and humour, not Bollywood.
A fairly forgettable romance. The bollywood scenes are great and you can't help but bop along. A movie to watch on a wet afternoon or a plane.
I won't go too much into details. But if you love Grease, you will certainly love this one! Modern musical Bollywood version of Pride and Prejudice. Aishwarya Rai is so beautiful and perfect match with Martin Henderson, both charming.
Not a big fan of musicals and fortunately for me the singing stopped after about 1/2 hour. Rest of film was colourful and typical Bollywood.
My first Bollywood - where have I been? I suspect a good first choice with attractive cast, plentiful colour, light humour, good singing, interesting dancing and low level morality. The extras provide a look at potential alternative edits and are goodviewing in themselves. Only detractor from overall effect was li p s ync....
One of the best films and DVDs seen for some time now. The DVD itself is excellent value with heaps of extras. There shuld have been a more comprehensive section of on the Bios.
Do not miss this movie. Don't worry if Bollywood normally turns you off. The Bollywood bits are much less fake than real Bollywood, if you get my meaning. This movie is a delight from beginning to end. Any cringing you do will be because you realise how much less talent is involved in Hollywood movies.
