WINNER OF OVER 9 AWARDS (ACADEMY AWARDS, GOLDEN GLOBE, BAFTA) AND 9 NOMINATIONS IN 1980. One of the best-loved baby boomer films ever, this 1979 Peter Yates (Bullitt, The Deep) film is not only tons of fun, but centres around cycling. A small town teen aged boy obsesses about the Italian cycling team. He and his friends are desperate to ride away from their restrictive town, and to avoid the college snobs. Its a passionate cry for freedom that all teens feel, and resonates today more than ever and features great cycling footage to boot!

One of my all time favourite films ever! My Dad showed it to me when I was a kid and I've seen it dozens of times since and never tire of it. It's now being popularised as a great cycling movie but it's so much more than that. It's a classic coming of age story. It's a classic little guys take on the big guys and win story. Every one of the Cutters is a real character. I urge you to see it NOW! And show your kids - it may be old but it was old when I saw it back in the '80s and I loved it.
