Good historical account of the Boer War but why were Australians involved?

This movie holds up really well after many years. A very strong cast and some good acting particularly Brian Brown as Hancock, laconic and very anti-establishment as he does so well.

What a perfect drama. I've seen this film 3 times now and I still think it's one of the all time greats. Superbly directed, acted and filmed.

Makes you hate the English. If you think that's a good thing, watch it back to back with 'Gallipoli'.

Brilliant, impacting drama takes the facts and combines them with a great script and a superb cast to create one of this country's most respected and revered films worldwide. While Woodward, as Morant, is the lead, Thompson and Brown are each in arguably one of the best performances of their respective careers. This one fits the definition of a true classic, that is certain to be remembered for years to come. The film made history as the first from Australia to be nominated for an Oscar. Winner of 10 AFI Awards; shot in Burra, where the historic gaol houses a lasting memorial to the film that helped put the town on the international map. Excellent Performances by Edward Woodward et al. The script is never sentimental and doesn't either judge or glorify the main characters. Starting to look a bit dated though, and the 'anti-aussie' sentiment by the British Officers was just a 'tad' overplayed

This is extremely gutsy and has an interesting view on the rules of war. It's interesting to see the younger looking ozzie stars.

I missed this when it came to cinemas, and glad to have chance to see it in quality DVD. TERRIFIC. All Australians should watch it, to see what the Poms really think of us!

Superb. Do not watch if you are an apologist for the Empire.
