It was much better than I expected.
I did not enjoy this movie at all, tire of Aniston playing the same deary parts.
All the same it was quite true with the facts of men and women relationships.
Great movie, touched on real life issues, loved it
I hated this film. Funny in parts but mostly annoying. It redeemed itself with a decent ending - no unrealistic reconciliation.
I agree with Zags on this one: i was pleasantly surprised when it didn't turn out to be another Hollywood RomCom. True to life - the arguments are like re-runs from my past relationships. I thought it was scripted well enough to feel like i was going through those situations again!
Oh my lord this movie is rubbish! Vince Vaughn talks a million miles an hour, there is an absolutely excruciating dinner party scene involving far too much family singing and the whole thing, except for about the last 3 minutes, was an absolute waste of time. For a romantic comedy, there is precious little romance and ABSOLUTELY ZERO comedy.
Annoying, painful, waste of time...Who wants to see 2 people arguing for an hour and a half.
I loved this movie and I'm not a big fan of either actors. I think mainly because the story is so very much like what i went through with my x and does show you the different perceptions from a male and female views and which way they go about things which doesn't actually work in their favour. Such as trying to make a man jealous to get him back is not the way to go from a males point of view and visa versa which is great knowledge to have and even better if if your dating someon to watch the movie together and discuss the actual events which happen in the movie. I love this movie and will watch it again and insist anyone trying to get their x back to watch this and get a few pointers as to not what to do.
A lot better than I expected. It has a bit of depth but not too much to detract from its essential comedic nature. A decent film.
different ending would have been better, but good movie overall :)
This movie is actually much more true to life than I was expecting. I was expecting a hollywood romantic comedy but was pleasantly surprised. I actually found it quite a good and honest telling of a breakup.
This was possible one of the WORST movies I have ever seen.
Terrible.
The thought that these two ever got together or would even consider getting back together is just too bizarre. The poisonous atmosphere that exists in their apartment after "the break up" drives you mad in some ways but there are some very familiar behaviours, from both sides.
Great and so realistic both played great parts...this movie was written by realists....loved it
No, no, no - not good. Watching two people arguing all the time is not enjoyable..! I couldnt last to the end of the movie.
We couldn't finish this, giving up after about an hour or so. It was just too much of a painful train-wreck to watch. We were expecting some light hearted moments, but what there was, wasn't enough to overcome the 'cringe' factor.
While this movie generally had good reviews, it is essentially boring and even somewhat painfully silly to watch, with most unlikely characters ? the type who break out into song at a dinner party. Only Jennifer Aniston rescues a dismal effort; now more mature but just as engaging as when she was one of the ?Friends?.
Chick flick. I was pretty disappointed with it or expected much more. Believable acting and funny.
I found this film boring, unrealistic and not that funny.
I could really relate to it! Scarily so actually!! It was very funny in parts, but also heavy hearted in some. Over all a good movie and different to what you would normally expect. Loved Jennifer Anniston too.
Bland and uninteresting. I've given this two stars only for the marketing team's ability to cut together all the funny bits into the trailer and still make it look like there was more to this movie than the obvious. There wasn't.
A reasonably good movie, although I don't know I would call it a comedy. It was more of a drama with comedic moments. Very believable acting, some of the most realistic arguments I've seen on screen! Really good performances, but this one really brings home the reality of domestic rivalry - a bit of a downer really.
Not a bad movie, although nowhere near as funny as expected. Aniston is good, Vaughan is difficult to watch. I actually wondered would a woman be allowed in the film if she looked as bad as he does in this?
Boring beyond belief, no chemistry what so ever, don't bother
parts of it were funny but generally didn't like it given the ending. it was an anti-climax for me...
not really my kind of movie but well acted by Jennifer aniston and has some good moments, worth watching if your'e a fan of Jen.
The acting by the two leads was extremely good. I found it unsettling that this was filmed about the time that Jennifer and Brad Pitt broke up. I didn't find this an "enjoyable" movie as I think the squabbling was a bit close to home
Great movie, really funny with classic moments.
different, not quite a comedy, not quite a chick flick, pretty ordinary actually
ok, a bit trite and predictible, gary is not a sympathetic character and Brooke a bit too perfect....just worth watching for me
it was a good movie a bit mixed up at times but agood flick
This movie was ok. Not great not good, but passable ok. Jen acted quiet well. I didn't think that Vince was very good, as this is the first movie I have seen him in, maybe it is him or maybe it was the character..?? The topics brought up in the movie are very true in a lot of relationships. I could see some of my relationship in this movie.
Unfortuately I thought this movie looked for laughs, but just had weak content to get a laugh.
Depressing. They are arguing all the time and it is not pleasant to watch...
Some funny bits though.
This is puzzling. Why would two actors as likeable and charming as Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston choose to play two such unlikeable and charmless characters as these? To be fair Aniston’s character is not so much unlikeable, as dull and dim witted. I found it entirely unbelievable that these two characters would ever get together in the first place and from twenty minuted into the movie I was rooting for them to break it off and move far away from each other as quickly as possible. There is little to laugh at here. Imagine two lesser known actors in the roles and you quickly realise that it is only star power that lifted this turkey off the cutting room floor. Dire. Not even worth a mention as a chick flick. Just as the Aniston character deserves a better boyfriend, chicks deserve better movies than this.
A good lesson on what not to do when your friends are to dinner if you want your relationship to work. The fella of the house didn't enjoy the flick too much but then again he's not a slob. Loved the ending.
funny at times. mostly the beginning part and then it got a litte boring.
did not expect the ending like that though
A great movie and not as predictable as many out there, which is what I liked about it.
Dull and non funny comedy. Anniston was as boring as usual and Vince Vaughn was pretty average too. Being a guy I sided with Vaughn's character, but they were both immature and idiots.
Jason Bateman played a pointless character and half the cast was not needed.
Some support from some Swingers cast made me think this film could be funny. I was wrong.
It's a miracle they even lasted a couple of weeks. Not particularly believable and not even particularly funny. This movie had ok reviews at the time, but I found it disappointing.
In some respect aspects of our marriage are relected in the storey line.
An enjoyable film.
An entertainig comedy. Well worth watching
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this movie, actually watched it twice, and enjoyed both times.
Had heard good things, a real disappointment!
This movie is surprisingly good. It has good humour, very likeable characters and not so obvious ending. Worth watching.
Good performances by the lead actors and an unexpected ending despite the title.
not to bad mixed feelings about this movie
This was pathetic! I don't normally bother writing reviews. But this one really stinks! I usually like both of the main actors. They are both very capable of pulling off comedic roles. The plot of this movie was an un-funny lesson in shear self absorbed stupidity. Why would this woman ever want to be with this guy?
good clean, fun movie that both he and she can watch
I enjoyed this movie, not a real Jennifer Aniston fan, except when she was in friends, but she did really well in this movie!
I really liked it, worth seeing
Enjoyable and funny chic flick.
Jennifer Aniston & Vince Vaughn are very believable in this movie. there are definite funny parts but also parts where you cry unexpectedly at their pain. love how it doesn't have the 'hollywood' ending but leaves you wondering. that's life. a great movie which is also an eye-opener about breaking up!
I found it OK because I really like Jennifer Aniston but if I'd known I would be left wondering at the end I probably wouldn't have bothered watching.
I enjoyed this movie...not as predictable as most.
This movie was much funnier than I thought it would be and I really enjoyed it.
Pretty negative and overall serves no purpose / story line really doesn't seem to have a meaning. Not entertaining.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Well worth watching - guys take notice of how a woman wants to be treated!!!!
I think they could have done more with the characters.
I was expecting a lot more from the 2 main characters and they did not seem to 'click'
There seemed to be too much missing and the result was nowhere near as funny as I would have expected
Great movie. Even better than I thought. Heaps better than Mr and Mrs Smith
Warning - Chick Flick! For the girls its a great movie, one we certainly can relate too. Not one for the boys!
Hard to believe I wanted to see this one. For me the Vince Vaughn character is entirely unfunny and unappealing. The Jennifer Aniston character not much better, and a team of caricatures in support. An exercise in immature, manipulative and dishonest behaviour. Entertainment??
I really enjoyed both Jennifer and Vince in the way they portrayed the story.
Thought this movie would have been better than it was, a bit boring.
Long, boring and very few funny moments. I expected much more from the 2 lead actors, but unfortunately they failed to deliver in this movie. I got to the end and questioned why I had continued to waste my time hoping that something good might actually happen during the course of this movie. Needless to say, it didn't.
This movie is a great comedy and is definitely worth watching, however I was a little disappointed with the ending.
Good chick flick showing both sides of the story, great ending too. Characters are believable and movie is quite funny too.
A good, light-hearted, fun movie.
Good stuff. It's a wake up call on how easy it is to destroy relationships and continue to do so for the sake of gaining oneupmanship in these situations. Brilliant acting by Jennifer Aniston. Her frustration on trying to get the message across was heartfelt. Vince convincingly portrayed the role of a typical guy not understanding what the problem was or that there ever was one. His total shock when told by one of his mates what he was actually like was believable, ie - who me ... nah ... no way ... really??!! Well scripted and directed and along with obvious chemistry between Jennifer and Vince it made for an enjoyable watch. Anyone who can't relate to at least sections of this movie has ostrich syndrome!
