Not a bad offering but I got the sense I was watching "Death Wish" and instead of Charlie Bronson we had Jodie Foster in the lead role and she carries it off really well with strong support from Terrence Howard, well worth the effort.

Jodie carried the movie along, without her stardom the movie would have been very ordinary indeed. It had an nappropriate ending but so too is the Hollywood's approval of gun use for American culture or its protion of it.

One of Jodie Foster's best performances...really dark and emotional drama that pushes the boundaries of right and wrong when it comes to revenge. You definitely feel for her character especially after the park scene and her recovery in hospital. You can understand her position when she goes after the thugs that killed her boyfriend. Definitely a must see :)

I have watched Jodie Foster grow and mature since her first movie called Taxi. She has two Oscars. In this exciting screenplay she exhibits her emotions and feelings well ably demonstating her obvious talent, to play this role. Her correctness about proper killings ---no sweaty palms is the claasic response. As I am a Forensic Osteopath and Humanistic Psychologist I believe this lady actor really researchs her work. 10 out 10.

Did this ever get to the big screen or just get buried? It deserved better. Based on a frequently used formula, but Jodie tends to give the character real depth and credence as opposed to many previous weak attemps. Script, acting and story all very tight and even if this type of genre doesn't appeal, it should keep you rivetted to the set till the end

This was such a great script which was well acted and kept us totally mesmerised. Even though it is a classic "revenge" movie, its script had a mature dimension which left us feeling thoughtful about how we would behave if faced with a similar situation. Jodie Foster was absolutely believeable in this role. It's a movie I would recommend.

The Brave One - Jodie Foster at her brilliant best - haunted, sleep deprived, angry, persistent and determined. She is a "loner" - goes into places other people would never venture. Found the ending a bit unbelievable but still enjoyed the film. Because we had recently seen another movie with her in it where she lost her daughter in an aeroplane found her character a bit similar.

The thinking man's vigilante movie featuring the thinking man's pin-up girl Jodie Foster. This is quite good, slow paced but becomes more involving and keeps you in right 'til the end. Foster's character is severely bashed and her boyfriend murdered by some street thugs. The traumatised woman buys a gun for self protection and starts to find herself suddenly empowered in a believable, considered way (well, her reactions are believable if not her uncanny ability to be present at random crimes). A slightly different take, but still a vigilante movie.

Not your ordinary movie. It looks like a revenge movie, it sounds like a revenge movie, it walks like a revenge movie, so it aint!! Foster isn't wasting a few just to get back on the brutal death of her partner. Or even for the terrible assault on her. Because she has become another person, and she is horrified by what she witnesses herself doing. Not ordinary. But thought provoking, a moral nightmare. Watch it, and be soothed by the great soundtrack, and by Sarah Mclachlan's low tones particularly. "Play Misty for Me" in reverse!!

Loved the movie, the actress and actor - am in two minds re the image presented by the vigilante. I agree, let the baddies get what they deserve, but all the what ifs come up: what if it's the wrong person? what if the vigilante got it wrong? What if Australia was to become like Ameri-gun - everyone killing everyone else who dun 'em wrong? However, as usual Jodie Foster is outstanding.

This is one tough, uncompromising movie, a kind of female version of Death Wish (the first and best one) but a little more complex in the way it handles the vigilante issue. Personally, I say the bad guys deserve everything they get, especially in an era of slap-on-the-wrist 'justice'. Standout performances from Jodie Foster and Terrence Howard (as the detective). Gritty, angry, great.

I enjoyed the thought I gave to the issue that this film provoked. Foster's dedication to her craft always makes my journey to follow the story a little easier and an excellent performance was given by Howard. Neil Jordan and Philippe Rousselot teamed up again to deliver a very polished product with some innovative photography. Although the film impressed a nonchalance towards violence, this movie is for those with a strong stomach and tends towards the melodramatic.
