This was a surprising movie. Very compelling story and the history was interesting. The horror, sadness and romance of wartime is all portrayed very well here. Gregori Derangiere is such a beautiful man and a great actor. The few movies I have seen him in just left me wanting to see more of the man. He is also wonderful in a movie called 'The Lighthouse'.

I'm sure he ended up with the right girl but it was a painful process. I love reader movies and Gerard Depardieu 'BUT' !!!

Although this was not what I expected, I found it surprisingly engrossing and historically interesting. I was on the edge of my seat towards the end. Not a comedy, as described, but a great drama with a good cast. The very predictable (though satisfying) ending was a bit cliched.

Surprisingly historically accurate background in an entertaining, well made and well acted movie that could easily be rated G.

Well acted and put together. It is better than a 3 star rating but not up to a 4.
