This excellent story is sadly caught up in the middle for far too long by the goings on of a tiny enclave, when I would rather a wide world view. However it is beautifully done, and not to be missed. Especially the ending. Worth watching.
Reminiscent of the book the Day of the Triffids, with man instead of plants being the Enemy.
Interesting idea and reasonably well executed. Is it just me or is Julianne Moore often in these sorts of films? You could almost interchange her for TOni Collette for the roles where they are made to look haggard. Very bleak and confronting at stages and you wonder if people would behave like that given the same affliction. Good production values. Worth watching.
Julianne Moore is a great actress and her performance was great, but the storyline wasn't believable and didn't make any sense to me. It also dragged on for wayyy too long. Has to be one of the most painfully boring movies I've ever seen, I've lost count on how many times I yawned...
Pass. It's not worth 2 hours of your time. It could have been more interesting, but I just couldn't get past the fact she had such a distinct advantage being the only person who could see, but still let blind people take advantage of her and everyone else?! That just didn't make sense, the whole group rape seen could have been avoided - why not just take his gun?! Stupid.
I found this one quite boring and turned it off after 10 mins.
The idea of the movie is cool but i think went a bit too long. It was okay
Not the worst movie I have ever seen, but quite simply pointless. And it just seemed to go on, and on, and on! I couldn't understand how the only sighted person allowed herself and her 'family' to be used and abused to such an extent. Surely, being the only one with sight, she had a huge advantage. Didn't ring true to me at all. Life's too short to waste this much time!
I'm a bit non-plussed at the negative reviews. I found this movie thought-provoking. The much criticised rape scene is crucial to plot development. Not an "up" film, but a good one.
Tough to watch and no payoff... Cannot recommend.
totally agree with the rest of the reviews , could of done without the group rape scene. boring and bland. Acting by the Featured extras such as the Asian guy was the only plus..dont reccomend
This is a quite good movie... but the story line is a bit weird how everyone but one person becomes blind and she goes to the camp with all the blind people... but good movie..but they could of made it even better if they chnaged the storyline around a bit..
Interesting concept..Starts out ok but the lack of talking was weird, I thought they were just supposed to be blind....The acting had a lot to be desired. Was just getting back into it, when once again the dvd stopped half way into movie. maybee it saved a bad ending, haha
Found this tense and gripping - Julieanne Moore is very good
Dreadfull... Horrible ... Pointless ... unless it was to show the ugliness of human nature pitted against a small drop of human kindness ... also so absurd it's not even believable.
what a mess this movie was, it had good things and bad things but in the end just was bad. the thing was it was a good concept but just couldn't keep it to gether and that ending was just bad to watch. so many things were bad choices in this movie but had a good cast i expected more.
A fairly bleak film, made all the worse with an implausible story line and some weak acting. A very poor ending and an uncomfortable group rape scene doesn't help. Not one to recommend.
What an absurd story and movie. Dreadful acting they are as realistic as you and I playing a blind person. Stupid outcome as well. Frankly don't waste your time with such a garbage. It's laughable so ridiculous it is. And the rape scene is just unrealistic. PASS!
I haven't read the book so I can't compare. Could have done without the group rape scene- however it is an interesting premise, and worth a look. What would the world become if everyone went blind?
