It's great that this movie is based on a real life event. It's something positive in this divided world to know that this event did take place. That a white southern wasp can take in large african american boy and give him a home with no strings attached. Sandra Bullock is very good as the snappy, bossy but ultimately good hearted women. The Blind Side also doesn't revert to stereotype by opening up the other members of her family to ridicule as other movies have. It's all done with great respect. Kudos to all really.

I think I would have liked to know this was a true story up front becuase it would have made a big difference to how I viewed the first 75% of this movie. It was a good watch but, for me, it didn't take off until the complication right toward the end (ironically the same point at which the film opens). Great performance from the husband and son, particularly, but Bullock stood out too much in the 'soccer mom' role and made her hard to buy.

Brilliant from the very beginning. I am not a sports fan (at all), but I loved this movie for it's reach into the human spirit asking us to question why we do what we do and how much are we actually prepared to pay to extend kindness to another life.
If you liked 'Million Dollar Baby', this is definately worth seeing.

Fantastic, really a surprise, I didn't realize it was a story of a famous American Football Hero and thought i wouldn't enjoy it, but its more about his life and struggles to get there. If you love true storyies about people you will love it. If you hate football you will still love it, just make a cuppa when the game is on. Despite the drawn out filming of the football game in the end you realize it really needed to be that long to explain the story. A great movie to share with teenagers who don't think they have got what it takes to succeed, will encourage them to never give up.

I felt i wasnt going to like this movie when it started. Not much of a sport fanatic, prefer playing than watching. So i found the first part of the movie hard going and not knowing much about the sport a little boring. But then they get to the real reason this movie was made based on a true story and how a well to do mother takes a not so well to do boy and gives him a life. well worth the watch and i quite liked it. If you like movies based on true stories then this is for you. Sandra Bullock did an excellent job as did her co stars. really 4 1/2 stars.

Strong story, thefact that it was based on a true story made it fantastic (seeing the pics of the 'real' people while the credits played was probably the highlight for me. I was able to fastforward through the football scenes (didn't do it for me) and I did get a tad annoyed with the little brother character - he was a bit twee - but enough good, strong elements for me to recommend to people as a renter, not a keeper.

OK OK 4 stars?????????. BUT I have to say they could have added more suspense / substance to the script to make it a classic 5. Eg The mother visiting the black ghetto had so much potential, as did her conflict with her snobbish friends, and the school involvement especially with the children being so understanding and accepting of the situation. So much material to work with. Bullock was good but not Academy award material, the visit and confrontation at the ghetto was a bit improbable. Quinton Aaron portrayal was bland and required more effort, and Australians viewers would not know the parade of celebrity American coaches playing themselves, that detracted. I did enjoy seeing the actual people involved during the credits, and they obviously did a wonderful thing for a homeless boy. I realize it is a true story so they have to stick with the facts but I thought it was all a bit TAME it had so much potential for a quality script writer but they chose the safe version and it just rolled alone. OK maybe I am over reacting but it could have been a CLASSIC film in the vein of To kill a Mockingbird.!!. Overall good family entertainment and a good lesson for all (especially teenagers ) about acceptance, tolerance, compassion and understanding. See what you think ?

This movie was recommended to me by friends aged between 11years and 50 years.... but that made me a bit nervous - I'm the one who wouldn't see Sound of Music because everyone else loved it - BUT this is really worth watching. I love movies based on true stories and this story has everything. Also, Sandra Bullock is marvellous, not her usual sort of role but she does it soooo well you wonder why she's been wasted in light comedies. This movie will change the way you view others and is a must see.

The only downside to this movie is, I think Sandra Bullock and her husband in the movie were not the totally best choices to play the parents of Michael, unless of course they reflect the actual parents of Michael in real life. Anyway the script and story is what makes it a 5 star movie not the actors in this one...

This is a wonderful movie, Sandra Bullock has surpassed herself brilliantly and shows she is so much more than a comic asctress. I usually find true stories can be a little boring/tame but this one held my interest from start to finish. It is warm, touching, real, sometimes funny while NOT being just another a 'chick' flic, plenty of sport scenes while not over taking from the storyline. A really great family movie and highly recommend it for a great evenings viewing.

One of those movies that I enjoyed watching but appreciated even more when I went away and thought about it.
Sandra Bullock does a good job, but her Mississippi accent is a bit over bearing. Only a small distraction from a good movie.
