The railroad's bound to run right through the sleepy town of Rock Ridge. Land there will be worth a fortune - but the townfolk already own their own land. How do you drive them out? Send in the roughest, toughest, meanest, leanest gang you've got... and appoint a new sheriff you figure will last about 24 hours. But that's not really the plot of Blazing Saddles, just the pretext. Once Mel Brooks' lunatic film - many call it his best - gets under way, logic is lost in a blizzard of gags, jokes, quips, puns, howlers, growlers and outrageous assaults upon good taste - or any taste at all. Cleavon Little as the new lawman, Gene Wilder as the wacko Waco Kid, Brooks himself as dimwitted politico and Madeline Kahn in her Marlene Dietrick sendup that earned an Academy Award nomination all give this sagebrush saga their lunatic best. And when Blazing Saddles can't contain itself at the finale, it just proves the Old West will never be the same!

All time great movie. Action comedy. Love Mel Brooks humour. Gene Wilder and all the other actors are brilliant. Selected as a family flick. I'd forgotten that a couple of the jokes were a tiny bit risque, however my two boys really enjoyed it and definitely got the racism message. Triggered conversations about racial bigotry and the exclusion that marginalised people have to/have had to tolerate. Even the added bonus bits are pretty interesting - which is unusual in my opinion. Highly recommended.

Dated. Today's 'edgy' can be tomorrow's 'simplistic and offensive’ and I think this film's message isn't clever enough to avoid that. I would also like a slightly faster pace for something that's essentially so 'madcap'. I had a lot of fun, but I had to put on a little bit of a film history hat and work a bit harder than I do for other contemporary comedies. The bizarre ending was an absolute standout.

This movie is one of the cleverest and funniest comedies ever to come from the USA. I have seen it countless times, and still find something new to laugh out loud at. I start chuckling at the first intro scene - the theme song is so funny; and I'm sure Mel Brooks has put in gags and references that I haven't 'got' yet....

Old style film with lack of political correctness. Some may find refreshing, others shocking. Reminded me of Monty Python style

Very, very, very naughty but very, very, very funny. On the surface not for the PC's of this world - but it was actually ahead of its time and actually highlights many issues to be as absurd as they are - eg racism

I haven't seen this movie for about 20 years, but it is still as great as ever. Totally irreverent, always politically incorrect and a total "send up" of Westerns combined with modern humour. A classic that has stood the test of time. Thank God for Mel Brooks. Gene Wilder and Cleavon Little were fantastic too. Love the Count Basie Orch. playing in the desert scene, as well as the "baked bean" cookout. Just great for good old belly laughs. If you haven't seen it it is a "must watch" and if you haven't seen it for a while watch it again - it's great!

Hysterical western spoof, where they even Hang the horses for the crime of the criminal - and where the slaves turn the tables on their captors and make them look like idiots while laying down the railroad - I love watching this movie over and over - they should remake it to give it a update - so it doesn't look so dated, but overall a very funny and enjoyable movie - I don't think there is one person who hasn't heard or seen this movie before.

The usual great humour and gags I have come to expect from this comic genius. Now we just have to get Quickflix to get his movie "history of the world part 1"
