Brilliantly directed, but with so many characters, it's difficult to engage. Nevertheless, the movie manages to acknowledge the heroism and skill of these soldiers while also acknowledging the over-confident futility of the mission.

I really enjoyed this, it goes for over 2 hours, but it seems like 1 because it's so exciting and really keeps your attention. IMO it's as good if not better than Saving Private Ryan. Loved it!

One of the best war movies I've seen. This movie blends entertainment value with gritty action. It's more than a testosterone fix - it deals with a range of issues more complex than you might expect to find in many action flicks. For those with a serious sound system there is a lot to enjoy. Bass heads will love when the bass kicks in during the opening music score.

I always enjoy a good war film and this one doesn't fail to entertain. A bit bloodthirsty in parts but that is to be expected. Very realistic. Ridley Scott did a magnificent job with this film.

Filmed with chaotic immediacy, this movie grabs you and never lets go. Intense, poignant portrayal of the fear, bravado, courage, horrors, and heartbreak experienced by young soldiers. The plot is a bit weak, but the characters ring true.

Bang Bang Bang. Am quite sadly aware of the situation in Mogadishu at that time, however this movie does nothing to increase awareness or even "entertain". sad to see actors of the great calibre of Bana and MacGregor in this poor noisy movie, but I guess they have to feed the kids.

Great acting, true story and a lot of blood and guts. Just makes you wonder how the surviving men of our wars cope daily after all that bloodshed. Lest we forget.

Brilliant gritty action / war movie based on a true story, very good camera work and very hard hitting, along the lines of Saving Private Ryan. Excellent movie hard to believe what happened on that day. Excellent.

Excellent acting. So much more than just an action flick. Draws you in right from the beginning.

Gritty urban warfare drama. Great performances by all of the actors without ever getting into the 'whoop-ass' patriotism of most American films of similar ilk. Unfortunately, it is ironic viewing at present. The events in Iraq seem to mirror this disaster of epic proportions caused by yet another error of judgement by the US Military.

Very intense and true to the cause for those who remember Somalia and the events surrounding the ineffectiveness of the U.N. p.s. Bana speaking with yank accent? Don't think so!

You would have to be a fan of a "war" style of movie, but I found it very good. Plenty of action. Eric Bana is a surprise in this, I did not expect his role to be as significant.

Excellent, non-stop action, great acting and script. Not for everyone though. Only if you like to be entertained but also informed. Very realistic (and violent), almost like a documentary. Gives a great insight into the difficulties facing peace-keeping forces. Particularly relevant given the present situation in Iraq.

I deliberately delayed viewing this movie because I thought it was all action and no plot. Wrong! Engaging from the opening, I was tense and involved throughout. Not a feel good by any stretch, but the characters are strong, and although it is distracting listening to Eric Bana drawl southern US instead of ocker, it is definately worth it. Another reason to become a Ridley Scott fan.
