A brilliantly cast brings this funny and at times very poignant movie to life. Maggie Smith and Judi Dench are stands outs. I both laughed out loud and shed a tear and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Loved it as I head into old age I found it most entertaining
please do not send me blu -ray as I do not have this only send dvd thank you joanne
I originally saw this at the cinema and was most pleasantly surprised at how good it was and how much I enjoyed it. A stellar British cast, all in their later years (esp Maggie Smith, who looks positively ancient but oh, what character!), transplanted to a run-down (formerly exotic) hotel in India. The characters are at times a little OTT, but thoroughly enjoyable, even the horrible wife of Bill Nighy's character who you love to hate. Dev Patel and the other Indian actors are delightful, the location and scenery is a joy to watch, and there is a charming mix of humour, naughty innuendo, marital strife and a dash of poignant melancholy. My husband watched this movie for the first time and was surprised at how much he enjoyed it. Charming fun!
excerllent plays on all our emotions for getting old
A variation on a chick flick. There is a happy ending, of course, as always in this type of film.
Not exactly my type of favourite cinema. Three stars only.
