Story is not too bad but the CG is pretty jarring ... the characters have a smoothness that screams "fake" and Grendel is hard to believe as "real". The special features border on overload for a fairly disposable movie.

Ray Winstone seemed a strange choice to me for the role of a 6'6" musclebound warrior, but I ended up really enjoying his performance. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the CGI technique applied to the film - it ruined the film somewhat for me by giving it the feel of an extended cut-scene from a PS3 game. The last twenty minutes or so were exciting enough, and the special features on the disc gave a great insight into the filming process in small, easily digestible chunks, but the film itself falls some way short of the epic it wants to be.
