30-year-old Emilie runs a hairdressing salon, and provides an endless stream of well-meaning advice to her clients and friends. The one person she can't seem to help is Maddy, her mother, who has given up the will to live since being left by her husband. But Emilie receives an anonymous love letter (from Jean, a young man who is secretly in love with her) which gives her an idea - she changes the name of the address and puts that of her mother's instead. This plan works almost too well - her mother recovers her taste for life and starts to wait impatiently by the letter box. Delighted but caught in her own trap, her daughter thus has to find someone who can play the role of the amorous author.

A charming, humorous and very entertaining tale of lies and mix ups. I love a bit of French comedy and was not disappointed with this one. Enjoy. 3 and a half stars.

Far from Audry Tatou's best film but it was watchable. A pleasant film but not one for true lovers of French film.

Great real life story - typical of most foreign films. If you like this sort of thing then this is worth renting.

Nothing I hate more than trying to understand what is going on. This film is not in English - it is French.

I loved the sets and scenery and would watch it again and again just for that - but with the sound turned down and the subtitles off. All the actors and actresses are beautiful too but the charm of Emilie turned increasingly to irritation and dislike as she continued to lie and manipulate, always choosing the cowardly path and becoming more self serving rather than less. Couldnt warm to her so the movie felt too long.

Audrey Tatou is one of my favourite actresses. She plays Emilie's Character with outstanding performance. This is such a fresh and lovely romantic story and movie. I will watch it over and over again.

Terrible movie; poor story line, poor acting and then subtitles to boot. One I would rather forget!

A charming French comedy with amusing misunderstandings and delightful acting. If you enjoyed Amelie you will like this one too.

This is a lovely film with a cute guy who knows how to write love letters but not how to woo a woman! Amelie's mother is believable and the plot is quite funny. All in all very enjoyable.

One dimensional characters - I found it difficult to warm to any of them - particularly Audrey Tatou's rather hateful character. This film really was tedious. Don't bother!
