really enjoyed this movie. the only downfall to this movie was the ending. They definitely could have done this better and added more drama as it just seemed to finish.
Other movies based on old and familiar characters and plot have been successful due to their ability to draw out the characters and make you connect with them as they connect with each other. This movie failed miserably, There was no attraction between the main characters and certainly no romance - I have no idea why any girl would go out with a boring, emotionless hermit like Kyle who just hid and sulked. Kyle had no depth of character and the only beauty about him was his father's money which he used liberally to buy Lindy's 'love' (and trust me she was cheap). Of course the shallowness of the characters was not helped by the fact that the acting was pathetic (except Mary Kate Olsen who surprisingly was the only one who delivered a mildly decent performance).
This is a movie you should not waste time on.
Its starts off a little slow and was an interest twist on the princess and the frog fable. Well worth a watch and good to see a movie suitable for kids that doesn't have sex, bad language or violence.
This was surprisingly good! Yes, it's a teenage chick flick, but this is evident even looking at the cover...so don't be surprised by this when you borrow it. But I really did enjoy this film. It didn't feel as slow as others mentioned, not for me anyway. It was just a lightly entertaining movie with heart warming moments, especially at the end. To be honest, my only disappointment was that Kyle did not remain "the beast" on the outside, simply because you grow to love that character throughout the course of the movie and the drastic change between his two versions of self was the only part that didn't work for me in the last scene. I felt that this could have been a nice opportunity to change the predictable ending it was. But hey, still an enjoyable flick!
I thought this movie was ok its worth a watch.
This movie was so boring, cliche and predictable.... I am surprised that so many people enjoyed it. I got so sick of making gagging noises every time the two actors made an attempt at flirting that I switched it off.
Modern Beauty and the Beast movie. Well done. A movie that I was happy for my 11yr old to watch.
This movie was AMAZING! absolutely loved it, could watch it over and over again. Love the way the story was planned out, made you want to sit and watch more! LOVED IT!! :) <3
Beastly is a perfect name for this boring piece of nonsense, only watch it if you thought that Twilight was the pinnacle of movie perfection!
Ok movie, but they have tried to fit waayy too much into the time frame allocated so not much depth. Just touch on things. So makes it a little unbelievable and shallow. Other than that, an easy light movie for an afternoon.
Totally enjoyed it. I love the makeup on Alex - it was totally awesome.
was an ok movie couldnt seem to get into it properly would watch it again though , husban liked i though!
Really could not get into this movie at all.
This was a really good movie with a good twist.
Quite entertaining, but a bit cringey in spots (not very good acting) and very predictable. Reminded me of that Mitchell & Webb sketch about the green clarinet. Very pointed moral.
Probally better suited to teenagers, but was a great low key movie.
This movie takes about 25 mins to really get going and for the characters to 'settle in'. Until then they both feel kind of wooden and cliche, but as soon as the film gets out of the school setting it takes off. Which might say something more about the tiredness of the high-school/popularity genre as a filmic device than anything else.
Some amazing cinematography and I really liked the makeup for the hero (wish he'd stayed that way really). Sweet and romantic and even tho its totally unbelievable you really WANT to believe it.
Couple of missed opportunities by the scriptwriters to really show that he'd changed his ways and not just out of his desire to be good looking again. Am sure the tutor and the maid were modernised versions of...someone...(the teapot and the candle in the animated version??) but they felt underused in this version.
A nice one for you and the girls and a bottle of wine.
A interesting modern day twist on the beauty and the beast story. Good for a quiet weekend if you dont want anything too complicated.
A re-imagining of the Beauty and the Beast story set to modern times, I quite enjoyed this movie. As mentioned by another reviewer, Mary-Kate Olsen is probably the outstanding character in this movie. It's worth watching just to see her play the modern-day witch, and a rather stunning "goth" witch at that.
Fantastic movie along the lines of beauty and the beast. The makeup was very good and I can recommend it for the whole family.
I enjoyed this though the moral of the story has been done a million times in a million different ways, worth a watch.
Worth a watch for the twist on the original concept espically the modern take of the "Beasts" enchanted/cursed Rose symbol. Acting and the overal delivery is fairly average but a very entertaining and enjoyable movie. Wont win awards but is good for a night in alone kind of movie. I was very impressed with Mary-Kate Olsen, suprisingly a good performance, nice to see her in something without the sidkick twin.
Not a great movie but passable the makeup on Alex Pettyfer is terrific.
I enjoyed this movie, it is more a chick flick.
This was a clever twist to an old story. I enjoyed it but a bit too young for my tastes.
Watched with my 11 year old daughter and we both loved it. It's a great modern take on the classic beauty and the beast story.
i liked the concept of this movie but just felt it didnt deliver
beastly?!.............looked like a drug dealer that just spent a couple in the bighouse to me. Boring, & average, very average
This one intrigues me. Frustrated by the clumsy handling and at times rushed plot. Simple story that could have been done better, that said, I felt strangely compelled to watch it a second time the following night. Enjoyable, if completely predictable.
NIce fresh take on the old tale. MaryKate was perfect in her role as the witch. while Neil Patrick Harris injected some light humour. This movie is more mid- teen aimed than the younger audience, some language, but overall a good story that moves well. nothing spectacular but a very enjoyable few hours.
A modern take on the 'spoilt, selfish, superficial, high school super stud' and his lesson in humility and tolerence. Definately a 'young adult' film that is the 'in thing' at the moment but with a modern day witch this time no vampires or warewolves! Mature audences don't look for anything to deep but it does have a good lesson in the storyline. My 14yr old Granddaughter loved it. and we didn't mind it either if you just want to fill in a couple of hours and we can't let the kids have all the fun.
