for a 20-odd old movie it was quite good :) The story line was very good, with plenty of twists and turns. The acting was little over the top , but that was to make it more comic-strip style... The special effects were good, but of course dated .

Tim Burton's classic vision of Batman still remains a classic superhero film. Very dark and feels exactly like a comic book (ironically though it's completely inaccurate to the old Batman stories). Michael Keaton is certainly the best Batman and Jack Nicholson is unforgettable as The Joker. Check it out, it's a ton of fun.

i think it was a good movie but minor things ruined it like batman's rule not to kill aswell well as the actor who played harvie dent wasn't right for the script

Exciting, well-filmed and must've cost a small fortune to make, but nevertheless is stupid and suitable only for mindless entertainment. Jack Nicholson's performance is a minor redemption.

Very good for the time in which it was made, but seems a little pedestrian now. Jack Nicholson hams it up a little too much in my opinion. Michael Keaton' s understated performance as Batman is very good and gets far too little credit compared to Nicholson.

This is the best in the series. It’s got some superb actors and some very funny scenes. Michael Keaton is the best Batman and he is so cool and sophisticated in this role, he suits being a millionaire. Jack Nicholson also is great and is by far the best villain they have ever had. The soundtrack rocks and is all done by Prince, some songs are very catchy! It has got some really funny bit along with some serious ones. It’s a great adventure movie with some baddies getting what's coming to them. Don't go pass this one just cos it is older than the rest, it has so much more substance and character!

Tim Burton brings the blackness of the comic to the big screen perfectly. So much better than the later films in the series.

Still great. Nicholson as the Joker is easily the best villian in this series of Batman movies. Keaton does an excellent job too, but the stand out is Burton's sense of style in depicting the neo gothic Gotham city.
