Teenager Will Burton (Gaelan Connell) lives in his head, and his head is filled with music. When his mum Karen Burton (Lisa Kudrow) gets a job in New Jersey, Will starts his junior year at a new school only to find the old cliques still apply, but rock-n-roll rules the scene. Perpetually a misfit, Will strikes up a friendship with like-minded outsider Sa5m "the 5 is silent" (Vanessa Hudgens). Surprisingly, the school's "it" girl, Charlotte (Alyson Michalka) recruits Will to assemble a band to compete in Bandslam, a battle of the bands that is "Texas High School Football BIG." With music as the great equalizer, Bandslam is a movie that proves love, friendship, and music can all rock your world.

my tween wanted something a bit more Disney, I think she'll like it more in a year or two. Was like an american indie movie for tweens - slow moving, with emotional subplots and a predictable 'love the one you're with' love story. The mum played by Lisa Kudrow was a bit unconvincing for me. My (then) nine year old preferred Lemonade Mouth

I liked the actors, the storyline was ok. It was an ok movie, not great, not horrible but bearable. At times I wanted to punch some of the characters in the face, I liked Sa5m (the 5 is silent) and I think this role shows that Vanessa Hudgens can have a deeper side to her rather than the pretty smart girl that doesn't do much else than fall in love in every movie....wait...she does that in this move too, she just has better outfits and drinks her Dr Pepper with a twizzler. OK, she's as shallow as a puddle when it comes to acting, her stereotype is pretty well glued in place. Aly Michalka was the surprise here. She really DID show a deeper side. The twist near the end was nice, I really didn't expect it. It did make me a bit teary when her dad died, and the end when she hugged Lisa Kudrow. An OK movie, I would put it on for my niece (8yrs old) but wouldn't expect many older teens and up to enjoy it as much. I would say it's a kids movie over anything else.

Great for the kids! Good, although predictable ending...like Rock School only for teens!

I was expecting Camp Rock 2 and was so pleased it was anything but. This is actually an intelligent, thoughtful and very good movie. Oh, it's entertaining too. Not sure who it's aimed at - it's too smart for youngsters and I have no idea what Tweens are into these days. My 9 year old daughter really liked it - had to explain aspects to her. Nice to see VH in a non-HSC role.

Some scenes were very funny but i have to admit some parts of the movie i kind of lost intrest. The music at the end kind of made you want to get up and dance around the room. Some people may love this movie others may get bored.
