Once, not long ago, a small Egyptian police band arrived in Israel. They came to play at an initiation ceremony but, due to bureaucracy, bad luck, or for whatever reason, they were left stranded at the airport. They tried to manage on their own, only to find themselves in a desolate, almost forgotten, small Israeli town, somewhere in the heart of the desert. A lost band in a lost town. Not many people remember this. It wasn't that important.

Mostly subtitled. A whimsical, charming and humorous movie, but very slow. An accurate portrayal of life in Israel outside the major cities.

Wonderful portrayal of personal interaction by people thrown together unexpectedly. Yes it is a bit slow and even uncomfortable at times, but the main characters are great and very human. This is a film as if real life matters. You feel for these people and although the setting is a bit stark the people are not. The fact that it is a meeting of two cultures is a very understated part of the film.

An Egyptian band becomes stranded for the night in a new housing estate in Israel. A lovely understated observational drama that ticks all the right boxes for this type of thing.

Loved this movie! The 3 main characters were terrific. I particularly thought the older band leader played a great role. Sure it was not an exciting action packed movie, but the tension and interaction between the characters was great. It was also good to have a look at another culture. My highest recommendation.

Small is big...........this is about humanity, simple and honest and really, very funny. One of the reviewers called it a gem. A small word but it sums it up perfectly. I was thinking about this movie and the main character, the bandleader, (but then, all the other characters were perfectly portrayed) for several days and that is always a sign to me of a brilliant movie. Exquisite is the word I'd use. What a shame only a few will see it. It's in my top 5 of all time, vying with Monsoon wedding, but I think this wins by a nose, but you have to watch the movie to see the most spectacular nose I've ever seen.

We loved this movie - definitely different and quirky - relied more on the characters than a strong plot

This is an unusual and quirky little foreign film which we quite enjoyed and found it to be quite amusing. Not everyone's cup of tea, some will find it too slow or too boring or just odd. If you enjoy foreign films, this is worth watching.

An easy film to watch about missed opportunity and uncertain futures. It leaves you wanting to know more about the characters. This is a easy film to enjoy and worth placing in your queue.

Enjoyable but not much really happens. Interesting to see a very modern town in the middle of the desert.

Interesting concept - I am not sure how (or why) the film maker came up with this idea. It's a nice little foreign film with a good range of characters, but it suffers from the lack of any real event. Maybe that is the whole point, but it didn't have enough to get me thoroughly involved. Some nice moments though.

Pleasant enough and quite innocuous, but very little happens. Much potential for an interesting story was wasted and it goes nowhere. Disappointing.

Arthouse- some subtitles.slow but cute story about human nature and interreaction, one for the movie buffs. Subtle characters struggling through life as best they can. Some funny moments as well. Recommended.

A sad slow-moving film of 'not quite' - why didn't the band play for the girl's birthday? - why didn't the 'colonel' follow his instincts and her beckoning? - frustrating - chances lost.

I enjoyed this movie very much. The characters allow one to look beyond the stereotypes. The pace is slow, but that is necessary to underscore the plot in this well-made film. There are some very amusing and endearing moments in this film, as well as an unlikely but touching "hero".
