Reflecting an age of innocence and a time of wonder, no film better captures the pure magic of Disney than BAMBI -- the world's most endearing animated tale about the beauty of nature and the miracle of life. Nominated for three Oscars ®, this immortal blend of classic storytelling and unforgettable characters comes to breathtaking life through the artistry of some of Disney's all-time greatest animators!

As morning light breaks across the meadow, a new prince of the forest is born. Soon Bambi emerges from the thicket on wobbly legs, much to the delight of his new friends, Thumper, the playful rabbit, and Flower, the shy yet lovable skunk. But the fun of skating on stiff water, nibbling fresh blossoms, and frolicking through the woods is only the beginning. Guided by the wisdom of Friend Owl, Bambi learns valuable lessons about love, loss, growth and renewal along the way..

Lovely movie - the pace and the gentleness are a far cry from the hectic frenzy of modern animated movies. The most striking thing for me was the famous aspect of Bambi's mother dying - it's actually not horribly traumatic at all - it takes place halfway through the movie in a confronting but quite understated way, which comes across very much as simply part of life - as does the whole movie. It unfolds a natural cycle: by the end, Bambi has found love and had children and become king and moved on from his mother's death. My 5 year old was struck by the mother dying but in no way traumatised and I think it was a good gentle learning experience.

Still a beautiful classic and interesting to see how it was put together by the extremely talented Walt Disney and his team.

The kids enjoyed the movie, I really enjoyed the commentary afterwards on how the movie was made, it gave an amazing insight into how Walt Disney worked and what a genius he was

I took Bambi to show it to my three-year-old granddaughter but I was riveted when watching again after 65 years! I kept thinking of the great work, frame by frame, that must have gone into its making - hundreds of artists putting together a faultless movie! It certainly makes today's computer-generated, not -a-human-in-sight, efforts look just a little pathetic in comparison. Oh, yes - did I add that I enjoyed it immensely??

This is a classic. You can't compare it with the animations of today but still worth having in your collection. I was a little dissapointed when I started watching the movie only to find out it's the 1942 version. After all the hype I expected a new version but as I said earlier, it's a classic and and a must have. My 4 year old daughter watches it over and over and over....

A beautifully animated, touching story about love, life and friendship. I can't remember the last time i had seen Bambi and it was long overdue. It brought back many memories of when i was younger. The colours are fantastic as well as the fun characters that feature throughout the film. This will always be a classic. I gave it 5/5.

I wasn't exactly waiting with anticipation for this old Disney chestnut, but I thought the kids would like it so I added it to my list. What a pleasant surprise. Bambi is a life and love story for kids, and it's still relevant today. My daughters were enchanted watching Bambi grow from birth, learn by induction and from his friends, and eventually - well I won't spoil the story. Technically the disc is even more surprising. The original hand animation was excellent (as were most of Disney's feature films), but it's amazing how well the re-master has been done. It has full THX certification, and both the picture and sound earn that rating. It's perfect. This is Bambi in quality and clarity that just hasn't been seen before. Well done Disney - it took you some time, but it was worth doing well.
