Well. I agree with Lynette's comment, see below. The movie is bad, splattering brains, pouring blood, cannibalism, vomit and even some bird poo, for a good measure, if that sounds like an interesting film for you then go for it... I give zero stars for the movie itself but 3 or 4 stars for the extra feature "making of" documentary. Perhaps I should have watched it in a reverse order, starting from the extra feature, explaining how it was made (in a backyard) on extremely low budget, the actors have been 100% amateurs, working for free (if not counting baked beans on toast), etc. Peter Jackson’s parents appear as very supportive and loving parents, really. Three or four stars for the extra feature plus zero stars for the movie, gives about 2 stars overall! Maybe Kiwis will like it for patriotic/nostalgic reasons?

This movie is very funny, it is designed to shock so dont watch if you cant handle it. The horror apect of it is completely overcome by the comedy

For the easily amused, with a low threshold of boredom. A low budget with gross violence. Only redeeming feature is that it launched Peter Jackson to greater things.

A wonderful movie from the cult director Peter Jackson. Be sure to also watch the special features as there is some very funny stuff there! This keep kept me laughing almost all the way though it. Its not to be taken seriously at all and its a cult movie. If your a fan of Peter Jackson's Brain-dead, don't miss this one. He had hardly any budget and actors whom were mostly his friends. Its a cool, hip and slightly sick movie. Fun for all, "The bastards have landed"!

My son said not to watch it, and his taste is so broad I decided to take his advice.

Of interest because it was Pj's first. Yes its a spoof but it has all the hallmarks of a script written by first year medical students, a budget saved up out of someone's lunch money and filmed on location in his gran's backyard - it was interesting for about 10 minutes and then the curiossity value wore off. High point: Derek against the aliens "I'm a Derek and Derek's don't give up!".

Exploding Sheep and Seagulls eating Derek's Brains. This is a true splatter movie spoof. Only if you have a robust stomach and can laugh at the very gross.
